About The Position

NBCUniversal is seeking a Master Control Operator to maintain and manipulate on-air playlists, execute program/commercial/marketing changes, and support live-event and contingency workflows using cutting-edge software. This role involves executing seamless changes, ensuring flawless commercial breaks, and monitoring over 150 channel streams for continuous availability and consistency. The operator will guarantee programming continuity by confirming material readiness for on-air playout, act as the last line of defense for on-air discrepancies, and simulate the viewer experience to check audio, video, captioning, and picture quality. Collaboration with Operation Supervisors is key for recovering from discrepancies, and the role includes mentoring and supporting peer-to-peer training. All other duties to support the Network Operations Center as assigned by management must also be performed, following company rules and policies.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma and relevant certification or Associate's Degree in Media or Communications, or equivalent professional experience in broadcast, digital, or post production role.
  • A solid understanding of television production, broadcast operations, and/or news/sports/entertainment technical production requirements.
  • Must be willing to work in Centennial, CO.
  • This position is fully onsite with no ability to work hybrid or work from home.
  • Must have unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be willing and available to work any shift including overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of a 24x7/365 operation, with possibility of schedule changes based on business needs and priorities.
  • Must be willing and able to view all content including that considered to be mature in nature, repetitive, and potentially controversial.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior professional experience working in master control or a production control room is highly desirable.
  • The ability to maintain composure and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to adapt to new and changing workflows and software implementations.
  • An acute attention to detail and a knack for cross-referencing and identifying inconsistencies, coupled with the ability to anticipate and report potential issues and concerns proactively.
  • Ability to multi-task and balance numerous priorities in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven experience working collaboratively with others, who is always respectful and maintains a positive attitude.
  • A punctual, hardworking, disciplined, and dependable individual.
  • Fluency or proficiency in Spanish is a definite plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manipulate on-air playlists, execute program/commercial/marketing changes, and support live-event and contingency workflows using cutting-edge software like SNELL Morpheus and Amagi.
  • Execute seamless program, commercial, and marketing changes and provide support for live events and contingency workflows.
  • Take ownership of commercial integration, ensuring flawless rolling of commercial breaks during both taped and live programming.
  • Contribute to the team which collectively monitors and maintains 150+ channel streams, ensuring continuous availability and identifying any inconsistencies with keen attention to detail.
  • Guarantee the continuity of programming by meticulously confirming the readiness of every piece of material for on-air playout.
  • Act as the last line of defense for internal clients and stations, swiftly responding to any on-air discrepancies with situational awareness and quick decision-making skills.
  • Protect our airwaves by meticulously simulating the viewer experience, constantly checking for proper audio, video, captioning, and picture quality.
  • Collaborate with Operation Supervisors and work as a cohesive team to promptly recover from any on-air discrepancies.
  • Act as a mentor and subject matter expert by contributing and supporting on-going 1:1 peer-to-peer training.
  • Perform all other duties to support the success of the Network Operations Center as assigned by manager and follow company rules and policies.
