About The Position

The Massage Therapist provides relief and relaxation to clients through therapeutic massage. The therapist assesses each client individually and develops an appropriate plan of action. The role is based at YMCA Lafayette in Lafayette, Indiana, and requires travel never or rarely.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of massage experience.
• Massage Therapist (MSGTHER) credential required by the State Licensing Board.
• First Aid certification from the American Heart Association.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Massage therapy license or certification from a recognized school (AMTA, OBTA, ABMP).

Responsibilities

• Accurately document and maintain client records and department paperwork in a timely manner.
• Clean, organize, and maintain the work area, and disinfect it after treatment.
• Assess patients’ soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, and range of motion, and develop a treatment plan.
• Communicate with patients about their medical histories, problems, and pain, and respond to their questions and concerns.
• Perform therapeutic massage using a variety of modalities on soft tissues and joints to treat medical conditions and injuries.
