About The Position

Avtec Finishing is seeking a Masking Tech for their New Hope, MN location. This is a full-time, first-shift position with a 4-day work week (Monday-Thursday, 5a-3p) and potential overtime on Fridays. The role involves applying and removing masking materials on customer parts to ensure protection during various processes. This is a hands-on, active role in a warehouse environment with exposure to heat, humidity, dust, and noise. The company emphasizes attendance, safety, and offers opportunities for career growth within the metal finishing industry. They are looking for individuals with good hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions. This position plays an integral part in finishing critical parts for various industries, including medical, aeronautics, and military.

Requirements

  • Ability to maintain a regular and reliable attendance record.
  • Fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be a US citizen or have authorization to work in the US.
  • Ability to read a ruler/tape measure and analog clock.
  • Good hand/eye coordination.
  • Ability to handle and work on small parts (small hands work best).
  • Ability to process product with direction from Masking Team Lead or Shift Supervisor.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to interact with all others in a cooperative manner.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Comfortable with computer/tablet and MS Office.
  • Exposure to shop conditions (noise, dust, heat, humidity, odors, fumes, chemicals).
  • Comfortable working with chemical maskants and solvents.
  • Must get along well with others, as will be working in a smaller room with team members.
  • Must be able to follow safety guidelines and dispose of waste properly.
  • Must be able to work efficiently.
  • Must pass a basic math test within 10 minutes during the onsite interview.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for applying and removing masking materials on customer parts to ensure protection during various processes.
  • Preparing and setting up masking equipment/tools.
  • Performing masking tasks with precision and ensuring all masking operations meet quality and production standards.
  • Racking, unracking, and packing parts as needed.
  • Upholds company policies and procedures.
  • Preparing raw material for masking to include, but not limited to, hand wiping and blowing out holes.
  • Application/removal of masking materials such as silicon or rubber plugs, tape and chemical maskants (paint) per customer specifications.
  • Counting parts to ensure compliance with customer Purchase Order and Production Work Order.
  • Perform a variety of modification and assembly functions (touch-up, preparation, rework, or repair) on a variety of components, assemblies and devices based on customer product specifications.
  • Get own parts and material from supplies or Masking Team Lead.
  • Helps monitor inventory levels and the request to purchase supplies and materials to meet production requirements in a timely manner.
  • Assists in the inspection of product and notifies the Team Lead/Supervisor of any nonconformance's.
  • Records masking details and any necessary information on the work order as required.
  • Packages parts to safely transport to production areas.
  • Accurately complete the necessary forms and adheres to scheduling due dates.
  • Works safely at all times and complies with all safety regulations while working with hazardous materials and chemicals.
  • Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and organized manner.
  • Works with a positive attitude and reports all questions or problems to the Masking Team Lead or Supervisor.
  • Maintain a productive work environment through accuracy, attention to detail and making sure the job is carried per specification in a timely fashion to meet or exceed target rates.
  • Other duties as assigned.
