About The Position

This position assists in equipment repair and preventative maintenance procedures in the operation of the facility. The role involves ensuring equipment operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements, consulting with engineers and vendors, and performing layout work for projects. The individual is responsible for meeting safety requirements and complying with all policies and regulations set forth by Simmons or various government agencies concerning safety, environment, vehicle, handling of food products, packaging, ingredients, and related items. The Maintenance Tech I will participate as a member of the team, fostering strong cohesiveness, attending meetings, and supporting the ongoing development and implementation of team concepts and policies. Familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) and understanding the position’s role in supporting these systems, including communicating concerns and improvement ideas, is also expected. The role also includes performing other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

Requirements

  • Experience or vocational training in welding, electrical or mechanical repair, and refrigeration or hydraulics.
  • Ability to make good decisions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others and leadership team.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for poultry or food processing organization experience.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs, replaces, corrects or affects equipment as needed to ensure equipment operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements.
  • Consults with Engineers and vendors as needed.
  • Accomplishes layout work for each project as needed.
  • Troubleshoots equipment.
  • Meets safety requirements in accomplishing responsibilities of this position complying with all policies or regulations set forth by Simmons or various government agencies concerning safety, environment, vehicle, handling of food products, packaging, ingredients and any related items.
  • Participates as a member of the Team in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies.
  • Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.
  • Attends appropriate team meetings.
  • Fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues (e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.) as a member of the Team.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Maintains familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) and understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems.
  • Communicates concerns and improvement ideas regarding operating systems.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
