About The Position

Moda Operandi is seeking a Marketplace Manager to join our Merchandising Team. The Marketplace Manager will lead the next phase of growth for Moda Operandi’s marketplace business, building on the strong foundation established over the past two years. This role is responsible for evolving and executing a multi-year strategy that positions the marketplace as a core revenue driver across both dropship and concession models, while delivering against ambitious growth targets. Reporting to the Director of Merchandise Planning, the Marketplace Manager will play a key role in shaping the company’s broader digital growth strategy by refining the existing roadmap, identifying new opportunities across categories and brands, and expanding assortment to drive incremental value. Working in close partnership with Merchandising, this individual will support category growth through sourcing and scaling high-potential partners, increasing product diversity, and unlocking new avenues for marketplace expansion.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of eCommerce and merchandising/buying experience
  • Experience in managing 3rd party marketplace offerings
  • Demonstrated experience of building and executing strategic initiatives and partnerships
  • Strong relationships within the market across multiple categories
  • Successful at establishing and leveraging highly collaborative relationships with cross functional partners throughout the organization
  • Strong in analytics and data-driven decision making
  • Demonstrated thought leadership and ability to connect at all levels in the organization, up to and including the C-Suite
  • Experience within a multi-channel/multi-region brand, including managing key vendor relationships
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end marketplace strategy, translating Moda Operandi’s corporate growth objectives into a multi-year roadmap with clear milestones, KPIs, and measurable outcomes.
  • Identify and unlock growth opportunities through a deep understanding of marketplace dynamics, competitive benchmarks, and evolving industry best practices.
  • Partner closely with Buying teams across all categories to source and onboard new brand partners, while expanding and optimizing the existing portfolio through marketplace and dropship models.
  • Lead all marketplace operations, including seller onboarding, assortment optimization, content quality, and day-to-day business management of marketplace partners.
  • Negotiate and manage commercial terms with sellers, ensuring alignment with margin targets, customer experience standards, and long-term strategic value.
  • Drive performance by collaborating with Marketing to build and scale a high-impact ecosystem of promotional, advertising, and demand-generation programs.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to deliver a seamless, customer-centric marketplace experience, continuously improving discovery, conversion, and post-purchase satisfaction.
  • Establish and optimize scalable operational processes across internal teams and external vendor services to enhance efficiency, profitability, and customer experience.
  • Own the vendor dropship strategy, including onboarding, compliance, SLA/KPI management, and continuous performance improvement.
  • Ensure all marketplace assortment and content meet Moda Operandi’s brand standards, delivering a consistent, elevated luxury experience.
  • Lead cross-functional alignment across Marketing, Merchandising, Logistics, Customer Experience, and Digital to ensure marketplace success is embedded across the organization.
  • Own marketplace P&L, including revenue growth, margin optimization, and cost management, with accountability for delivering against aggressive growth targets.
  • Build, scale, and lead a high-performing business development function focused on acquiring and developing strategic seller partnerships.
  • Establish and communicate a robust performance framework, providing regular reporting, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership.
