About The Position

Merlin is a venture-backed aerospace startup building a non-human pilot to enable both reduced crew and uncrewed flight. Backed by some of the world’s leading investors, Merlin is scaling alongside our customers to begin leveraging autonomy today to solve some of aviation’s biggest challenges. This role is for someone who has strong opinions about why some product launches go viral and others disappear, has studied successful reveals and campaigns, and wants to understand Merlin's product at a deep level to translate its remarkable qualities into compelling content and campaigns. The ideal candidate executes fast, doesn't wait for perfect conditions, makes a plan, moves on it, and adjusts when learning something new. They have enough experience for good instincts but are hungry enough to prove themselves in a fast-moving environment where their output is visible and can change the company. Merlin is doing something groundbreaking by building an autonomous flight system that will change how aircraft fly in military and civil, cargo and combat capacities.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of marketing experience with demonstrable ownership of campaigns, launches, or content programs.
  • Strong writing skills, capable of crafting both punchy social posts and substantive blog posts with a clear, direct voice.
  • Product marketing fluency, understanding positioning, messaging hierarchy, and translating technical capability into customer-facing language.
  • Experience executing multi-channel campaigns under tight timelines, adapting to changes like launch date shifts.
  • High critical thinking skills, asking 'why' before 'how', pushing back on bad ideas, and bringing reasoning to recommendations.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in or genuine passion for aerospace, defense, or deep technology.
  • Experience at a startup or early-stage company, wearing multiple hats and shipping with limited resources.
  • Familiarity with the defense technology ecosystem, including companies, media, events, and content that resonates with military or government audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Own execution across Merlin's product launch calendar, ensuring all content packages (press release support, launch blog, social campaign, paid media assets, internal comms) ship on time for several launches between May and September 2026.
  • Develop product marketing for Merlin's growing product family by deeply understanding the core product, customers, and competitive context, and translating this into compelling positioning, messaging, and content for defense, aviation, and investor audiences.
  • Manage Merlin's social media presence (LinkedIn, X, YouTube, emerging channels) by developing an always-on content rhythm, posting strategically, and amplifying announcements.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Comms, Flight Ops, Programs, and the CEO to track milestones, extract stories, and build content, building relationships and earning trust with technical teams.
  • Support influencer and media engagement by identifying external voices, coordinating content, managing relationships with aviation and defense content creators, and orchestrating synchronized drops.
  • Track and report on campaign performance (engagement, reach, share of voice, launch performance) to continuously improve Merlin's market presence.
