Marketing Researcher (Part Time)

Plan Left•Nashville, TN

About The Position

The Marketing Researcher works directly with the founder to establish and maintain the evidence base for a marketing framework that is being developed into a book, community office hours series, full curriculum, and software. The researcher identifies strong evidence, evaluates what it does and does not support, and helps shape the educational content. The role begins with research and may grow into curriculum and assessment development and the use of AI to create marketing assets, depending on how quickly the framework’s research foundation is established. The researcher builds an evidence library, reviews claims in office hours outlines, structures curriculum, develops tests and assessments, and provides behavioral science and market research input. Research findings are presented to the founder for approval before they are cited in any public asset. The role collaborates closely with the portfolio content marketer, who turns approved findings into messaging and sales assets.

Requirements

  • Background in behavioral science, such as psychology, behavioral economics, or consumer decision-making.
  • Hands-on experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Marketing experience, ideally in both B2B and B2C settings.
  • Strong judgment in assessing trustworthy sources and a habit of checking original studies rather than relying on summaries.
  • Ability to write findings in plain language that business owners can use.
  • AI fluency, including writing clear prompts, building repeatable workflows, and checking AI outputs against original sources.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building curriculum, training programs, assessments, or educational content.
  • Familiarity with positioning, brand strategy, or innovation research.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the evidence library for the book, beginning with relationship marketing claims.
  • Review every office hours outline section by section, checking each claim against research, prioritizing the newest research, and preparing a claims-and-sources list for the founder to review before citation.
  • Develop the curriculum structure, including a core question and takeaway for each chapter, learning objectives, and a path through office hours topics.
  • Create curriculum tests and assessments, including questions that evaluate learner understanding.
  • Build prompts and repeatable AI workflows for creating marketing assets with the founder, and check outputs against evidence.
  • Provide behavioral science input on buyer thinking and decision-making to inform session psychology and software personas.
  • Conduct market research for new products, including target markets, buyer segments, and inputs to competitor discovery.
  • Prepare short summaries of new academic and industry research relevant to the framework.
  • Present findings to the founder before anything is cited in a public asset.
  • Work closely with the portfolio content marketer, who converts approved findings into messaging and sales assets.
