About The Position

The Marketing Manager is responsible for coordinating sales and promotion efforts for the Advertising & Promotions team. This role oversees client communication, social media, events and ensuring the organization meets its fiscal goals in terms of sales. Requirements

  • All employees of Student Media must be enrolled as Washburn or Washburn Tech students. Summer employees must be either taking summer courses or enrolled in fall courses.
  • Core-level positions require students to be enrolled as full-time students.
  • Student Media accepts applications from students in all majors and will provide additional training as needed.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to make cold-calls and visit with businesses in the field.
  • Ability to manage paperwork for invoicing
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to lead a team of sales staff and designers
  • Analytic skill-set to evaluate digital traffic and manage sales accordingly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), prior sales and/or customer service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Check advertising voicemail and website forms daily and return calls and/or emails promptly.
  • Contact businesses in the Topeka/campus community for sales opportunities.
  • Provide sales leads for advertising representatives.
  • Analyze Google Analytics and provide weekly reports to the Review team/director of Student Media.
  • Provide opportunities for self or advertising representatives to place content on our social channels.
  • Manage social media channels when needed.
  • Prepare weekly ad run sheets and inform the appropriate leader.
  • Give weekly reports on ad sales to business manager and core leaders.
  • Promote the organization by tabling or attending events.
  • Supervise design of and/or design all ads for publications.
  • Place ads on pages or online by specified deadlines.
  • Dependent on Indigo Team defining which pages contain ads.
  • Keep our online advertising kit updated based on analytics from the previous semester.
  • Stay in close consultation with the Business Manager on accounts receivable.
  • Prepare advertising reports at Board of Student Media meetings.
  • Provide training sessions and/or onboarding for advertising representatives.
  • Recruit future advertising associates for the organization.
  • Mentor future advertising manager for succession planning.
  • Review team members’ payroll every pay period.
  • Attend weekly all staff meetings.
  • Attend weekly advertising/promotions team meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Board of Student Media.
