About The Position

At Johnson & Johnson MedTech, we are advancing the next generation of surgical energy solutions by combining deep clinical insight, technology innovation, and disciplined global strategic marketing. This role will play a critical part in shaping the future Advanced Energy portfolio, with primary emphasis on supporting new product development activities through market insight, innovation marketing, and early commercialization planning. The Advanced Energy Manager is responsible for supporting early stage innovation marketing, market assessments, and market research in direct support of new product development initiatives across the Advanced Energy portfolio. This role partners closely with R&D, Global Strategic Marketing, and portfolio leadership to inform development direction, de risk design and prioritization decisions, and ensure strong market alignment throughout the development process. The role will focus on generating customer and market insights, evaluating technology concepts, and providing strategic marketing input to development teams, with increasing ownership of early development projects and future launch support. The individual will also support select external innovation initiatives as needed to advance overall portfolio strategy. This position is not eligible for sales incentives or commissions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Experience in marketing, strategy, product support, research, analytics, or related business roles
  • Ability to synthesize information and apply analytical thinking to support decision making
  • Capability to understand complex or technical topics and help translate them into clear, actionable insights
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across cross functional teams
  • Comfortable contributing in dynamic, evolving environments where priorities and scope may shift
  • Experience supporting new product development programs, including pre commercial or development stage activities
  • Familiarity with external innovation, partnerships, or technology assessment
  • Experience engaging directly with surgeons or clinical stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a core marketing partner on new product development teams, supporting projects from early concept through key development milestones.
  • Provide development stage marketing inputs, including unmet needs definition, target segment identification, and value proposition development.
  • Partner closely with R&D to ensure customer insights and market requirements are translated into clear development priorities and design requirements.
  • Support development gate reviews by delivering market assessments, strategic rationale, and decision quality inputs.
  • Contribute to development roadmaps and platform planning, ensuring alignment between market needs, technology capabilities, and long term portfolio strategy.
  • Collaborate with downstream Brand and Regional Marketing teams to ensure continuity from development through launch planning.
  • Support execution of front end innovation marketing and GSM assessments for the Advanced Energy portfolio, including early market opportunity identification.
  • Conduct market landscape assessments, competitive analysis, unmet needs analysis, and opportunity sizing to inform development decisions.
  • Evaluate new technologies, platforms, and concepts through structured market, clinical, and competitive analysis.
  • Develop strategic inputs and business cases, including opportunity framing, value propositions, and high level commercialization considerations.
  • Design and execute early stage market research (qualitative and quantitative) to inform development direction, refine opportunity hypotheses, and de risk key decisions.
  • Engage directly with surgeons, key opinion leaders, and internal stakeholders to gather insights that inform product requirements and development priorities.
  • Synthesize voice of customer insights into clear, actionable implications for development teams and leadership.
  • Support select external innovation initiatives across Advanced Energy as needed, including opportunity screening and assessment support.
  • Provide marketing and GSM input for external technologies to ensure alignment with internal development priorities and platform strategies.
  • Work closely with R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, Finance, Supply Chain, and Regional Marketing partners to ensure alignment across development activities.
  • Drive execution of complex analyses and deliverables that support leadership decision-making.
  • Track progress, risks, and learnings across development initiatives and communicate clearly and effectively to key stakeholders.
