About The Position

The Marketing & Events Specialist serves as the primary coordinator for new public-facing events at MCTS, leading the planning and execution of initiatives that enhance community engagement, brand awareness, and ridership. This role is responsible for managing event logistics from concept through completion, including coordination with internal stakeholders, external partners, and vendors to ensure successful, well-executed events. In addition to event coordination, this position provides cross-functional support across all marketing programs, including digital experience, graphic design, and internal and external communications. The Marketing & Events Specialist contributes to content creation, campaign coordination, and production of marketing materials, while supporting social media, e-newsletters, and other digital platforms.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in event coordination, social media management, or digital marketing.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in both production and communications work.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of signage production tools and equipment, including cutting tools (e.g., Exacto knife, guillotine cutter) and basic shop equipment (e.g., drill press).
  • Ability to safely operate and monitor printing and production equipment in both office and light industrial/shop environments.
  • Ability to work in a combination of office and production settings, including extended periods sitting at a computer and standing during events and print production.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal teams, vendors, and the public.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to support internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Ability to learn and utilize marketing and communications software and tools (e.g., social media platforms, email marketing systems, basic design tools).
  • Basic knowledge of marketing, communications, or event coordination principles, with the ability to support campaigns and public-facing events.
  • Must be comfortable using sign making equipment such as an Exacto knife, guillotine cutter and drill press.
  • Must have good finger and manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to manipulate objects with the hands.
  • Must have the ability to provide both oral and written communications requiring good verbal expression, satisfactory hearing and eyesight clarity sufficient to read.
  • Licensed and physically able to drive an automobile.
  • Ability to stand to perform printing assignments, and lift boxes and bags weighing at least 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support public-facing events, including scheduling, vendor communication, logistics, and on-site execution.
  • Track event details and support post-event reporting, including recaps and performance insights.
  • Produce and support signage and print materials, including vinyl decals, temporary signage, and internal forms; ensure accuracy and timely completion.
  • Operate and monitor printing equipment; assist with large-format and vinyl signage production.
  • Prepare print-ready files and fulfill internal print and copy requests.
  • Process bus orders and assist with logistics for PR events, parades, and community initiatives
  • Support social media and digital engagement, including content scheduling, monitoring, and audience interaction.
  • Collaborate on content creation, including social media posts, basic graphic coordination, and short-form video.
  • Assist with e-newsletter development and distribution and support e-commerce activities.
  • Provide coordination and administrative support for marketing campaigns across multiple channels.
  • Maintain and organize marketing assets and materials.
  • Partner with internal teams and external vendors to support marketing and communications initiatives.
