About The Position

Valley Natural Foods is seeking a Marketing Engagement Specialist to enhance its digital presence and customer connections. This role involves creating and coordinating email marketing, digital content, and campaigns, leveraging customer insights and data to improve communication effectiveness. The position also offers opportunities to support events and community engagement initiatives, reflecting the co-op's commitment to community, local producers, and sustainability.

Requirements

  • Experience in marketing, communications, digital marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong writer and communicator with an eye for engaging, accurate content.
  • Comfortable working with email marketing, CRM, website, and other digital tools and excited to learn new ones.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Collaborative, flexible approach and willingness to jump in where needed.
  • Marketing, Graphic Design or Digital Communications or previous related work experience.
  • Competency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, AI, Photoshop etc.).
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of social media platforms and strategic planning, including backdoor utilization, analytics presentation, customer interaction and marketing campaigns.
  • Strong project management and organization skills with demonstrated ability to think critically and solve problems.
  • Ability to work independently or on a team with ability to meet deadlines, coordinate projects and work varied hours and days, including occasional nights or weekends to accommodate events.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience with Mailchimp or similar platform.
  • Strong technical aptitude to learn and adapt to changing technology.
  • Strong organizational, time management and communication skills (spoken, listening, & written).
  • High ethical standards with personal integrity with the ability to convey an accurate public image of the co-op, acting in the best interests of the co-op.
  • Demonstrated objectivity and ability to stay in conflict and timely follow-through to commitments.
  • Detail oriented, able to multi-task and remain flexible to the changing needs of the co-op.
  • English proficiency.
  • Regular, predictable attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • An interest in food, community, local businesses, or the cooperative model is a plus.
  • Experience with Ecommerce metrics and advertising.
  • Previous experience with video editing software.
  • Previous Marketing work experience or degree in Marketing/Communications, or related field.
  • Previous experience in the following areas: Food Styling; Photography; Professional Writing and copywriting; Creative Writing and Editing; and Desktop Publishing.
  • Understanding of the retail, grocery/co-op, natural/organic food industry.

Responsibilities

  • Create and coordinate engaging email campaigns, e-newsletters, and digital content.
  • Use customer insights and shopping data to make communications and offers more relevant and effective.
  • Keep digital campaigns and communications organized, accurate, and on schedule.
  • Partner with the Marketing Manager and other teams to execute marketing campaigns.
  • Help plan and support co-op events and community engagement activities.
  • Coordinate E-Newsletter Communications: Create, edit, proof, test, schedule, and distribute e-newsletters and other email communications.
  • Coordinate Email Marketing Campaigns: Develop and execute targeted email campaigns using CRM and customer shopping data.
  • Coordinate Digital Marketing Calendar: Ensure campaigns, promotions, events, and customer communications are delivered on schedule.
  • Coordinate Digital Content: Create, update, format, and publish customer-facing content for websites, landing pages, online forms, digital signage, and other digital platforms.
  • Support Digital Campaigns: Assist with the execution of digital marketing campaigns across Valley Natural Foods and its family of brands.
  • Create Marketing Content: Write, edit, proofread, and format digital copy and creative assets.
  • Measure Digital Performance: Track and report key email and digital marketing metrics.
  • Coordinate Digital Tools: Maintain customer-facing digital tools such as online forms, automated email communications, and digital signage platforms.
  • Community Partnerships: Coordinate the community event calendar and support select community events and partner activities.
  • Support Marketing Events: Serve as the lead planner for Valley Natural Foods events, coordinating planning, promotion, communications, vendors, logistics, and execution.
  • Alert VNF Management of potential theft or other emergencies.
  • Keep department areas clean, orderly, and remove trash.
  • Keep department equipment in working order and advise Marketing Brand Manager of equipment problems.
  • Attend Marketing staff meetings and other assigned training requirements.
  • Participate in branding audits, training, and support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management Team.
