About The Position

The Marketing Engagement Specialist supports Valley Natural Foods' digital marketing and customer communications, with a primary focus on email marketing, digital campaigns, website content, digital signage, and other customer-facing digital platforms. This position creates and coordinates timely, engaging communications that support Marketing priorities, promotions, events, and Valley Natural Foods' family of brands. The role also supports select community partnerships and events as needed. This is a hands-on marketing role for someone who enjoys turning ideas into engaging customer communications. You'll spend much of your time creating and coordinating email marketing, digital content, and campaigns, using customer insights and shopping data to help make our communications more relevant and effective. You'll also have opportunities to step away from the screen and support the events and community connections that make Valley Natural Foods more than just a grocery store.

Requirements

  • Marketing, Graphic Design or Digital Communications or previous related work experience
  • Competency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, AI, Photoshop etc.)
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of social media platforms and strategic planning, including backdoor utilization, analytics presentation, customer interaction and marketing campaigns.
  • Strong project management and organization skills with demonstrated ability to think critically and solve problems
  • Ability to work independently or on a team with ability to meet deadlines, coordinate projects and work varied hours and days, including occasional nights or weekends to accommodate events.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience with Mailchimp or similar platform.
  • Strong technical aptitude to learn and adapt to changing technology.
  • Strong organizational, time management and communication skills (spoken, listening, & written).
  • High ethical standards with personal integrity with the ability to convey an accurate public image of the co-op, acting in the best interests of the co-op.
  • Demonstrated objectivity and ability to stay in conflict and timely follow-through to commitments
  • Detail oriented, able to multi-task and remain flexible to the changing needs of the co-op

Nice To Haves

  • An interest in food, community, local businesses, or the cooperative model is a plus.
  • Experience with Ecommerce metrics and advertising.
  • Previous experience with video editing software.
  • Previous Marketing work experience or degree in Marketing/Communications, or related field.
  • Previous experience in the following areas: Food Styling; Photography; Professional Writing and copywriting; Creative Writing and Editing; and Desktop Publishing.
  • Understanding of the retail, grocery/co-op, natural/organic food industry.

Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, proof, test, schedule, and distribute Valley Natural Foods' regular e-newsletters and other email communications, ensuring content is accurate, timely, engaging, and aligned with brand standards and Marketing priorities.
  • Develop and execute targeted email campaigns using CRM and customer shopping data to identify trends and audience segments, creating personalized messaging, offers, and coupons that align with customer preferences and shopping behavior.
  • Coordinate email and digital communications with the broader Marketing calendar to ensure campaigns, promotions, events, and customer communications are delivered on schedule.
  • Create, update, format, and publish customer-facing content for websites, landing pages, online forms, digital signage, and other digital platforms as assigned.
  • Assist the Marketing Manager with the execution of digital marketing campaigns across Valley Natural Foods and its family of brands, including campaign setup, creative assets, customer communications, and other digital touch points.
  • Write, edit, proofread, and format digital copy and creative assets for email, websites, digital advertising, signage, and other Marketing communications while maintaining established brand standards.
  • Track and report key email and digital marketing metrics, identify trends and opportunities, and share observations with the Marketing Manager to improve future communications and campaigns.
  • Maintain customer-facing digital tools such as online forms, automated email communications, digital signage platforms, and other Marketing-related digital systems.
  • Coordinate the community event calendar with the Leadership Team to ensure appropriate leadership representation and support at select community events and partner activities throughout the year, helping maintain relationships with key donation and community partners.
  • Serve as the lead planner and primary point of contact for Valley Natural Foods events, coordinating event planning, digital promotion, communications, vendors, logistics, timelines, and day-of execution to ensure successful and well-coordinated events.
  • Alert VNF Management of potential theft or other emergencies
  • Keep department areas - shelves, counters, aisles, back stock -- in clean, orderly condition and remove trash.
  • Keep department equipment in working order and advise Marketing Brand Manager of equipment problems.
  • Attend Marketing staff meetings and other assigned training requirements.
  • Participate in branding audits, training, and support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management Team.
