Community Engagement Specialist
About The Position
Fairfield County’s Area 20 Workforce Development Board, responsible for overseeing workforce development activities in a five-county region, is seeking an organized, community oriented, self-starter to join our team! This individual will assist with community outreach, customer facing services, and employer support. This role will support the OhioMeansJobs centers in Fairfield and Pickaway Counties with Resource Room coverage. This includes greeting customers, assisting with resumes, job search activities, and unemployment issues. The work will also include engaging with major employers in the area and assisting with pre-employment assessments. When time allows, this position will also be active in the community promoting OhioMeansJobs services to both job seekers and employers. This will include attending community events, meeting with community groups, and facilitating workshops. This is a temporary role running through June of 2027.
Requirements
- Valid Ohio Driver's License
- Detail oriented and organized.
- Able to prioritize tasks, manage competing deadlines, and effectively manage time.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to produce written reports and project documentation to a high standard.
- Ability to operate a personal computer to create and edit documents using Microsoft Office software.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in career development, workforce planning, and/or workforce development is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with pre-employment testing for local employers, including acting as the primary point of contact, coordinating onsite testing, performing job seeker evaluations, and relaying results.
- Act as the community liaison for OhioMeansJobs services.
- Perform outreach to local community groups in Pickaway and Fairfield counties to promote services and connect job seekers to career services.
- Promote employer services to individual employers and community groups.
- Assist local OhioMeansJobs centers by providing customer assistance in the resource room.
