About The Position

Perfect Afternoon is looking for an experienced, hands-on Director of Marketing to lead digital marketing strategies for a diverse group of clients. This is both a leadership and working role. The ideal candidate understands how paid media, SEO, AEO, content, email, websites, landing pages, analytics, and conversion optimization work together to produce measurable results. You will guide our marketing team, work directly with clients, oversee campaigns, and help improve how we use AI and automation across the agency.

Requirements

At least five years of professional digital marketing experience
At least three years of agency or multi-client experience
Previous experience managing or mentoring marketing professionals
Experience planning campaigns across multiple digital platforms
Strong knowledge of SEO and emerging AEO practices
Experience with websites, landing pages, CRO, and analytics
Experience using AI tools or agents to improve workflows or client outcomes
Experience with WordPress or a similar CMS
Proficiency with GA4, GSC, Ads, and reporting tools
HubSpot proficiency, including forms, workflows, CRM data, and lead-generation processes
Familiarity with paid social, email marketing, CRM systems, and marketing automation
Experience developing strategies, budgets, forecasts, and reports
Strong written, verbal, presentation, and client-management skills
The ability to manage multiple clients, campaigns, projects, and deadlines
Strong judgment, curiosity, organization, and attention to detail
Mac proficiency

A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent professional experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

Develop marketing strategies based on each client’s goals, audience, budget, and growth opportunities
Turn business objectives into clear campaign plans, timelines, and performance goals
Connect marketing activity to qualified leads, sales, revenue, and return on investment
Present strategies, results, and recommendations directly to clients
Plan, manage, and improve campaigns across channels such as Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising, Meta, LinkedIn, and other social platforms, Email marketing and automation, Display and remarketing, Organic search and content marketing, Video and emerging digital platforms
Ensure that targeting, messaging, creative, landing pages, offers, and tracking work together as one strategy.
Oversee strategies that improve client visibility in traditional search results and AI-generated answers.
Provide direction in areas including Technical SEO, Keyword and search-intent research, Content strategy, Structured data and schema, Local SEO, Internal linking and site structure, Core Web Vitals, AI-search visibility and citation readiness
Stay current with search engine changes, generative AI, and how people use AI tools to find and evaluate businesses.
Work with designers, developers, and content teams to plan and improve client websites and landing pages.
Provide direction on User experience and navigation, Content and messaging, Calls to action, Forms and lead-capture processes, HubSpot workflows, Mobile usability, Page speed, SEO and AEO, Conversion optimization
Use analytics, heat maps, user behavior, and testing to improve engagement, lead quality, and conversion rates.
Set practical goals and KPIs for campaigns and websites.
Use tools such as Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, Looker Studio, HubSpot, advertising-platform analytics, heat maps, and call tracking to evaluate results.
Turn the data into clear insights and practical next steps for clients and internal teams.
Use AI tools and agents to improve marketing research, planning, execution, analysis, and reporting.
Identify opportunities to use AI for Audience and competitive research, Campaign planning and optimization, SEO, AEO, and content strategy, Data analysis and reporting, Website and landing-page improvements, Marketing automation, Internal processes and quality assurance
Help the team build useful AI-assisted workflows that save time and improve client results.
Review AI-generated work for accuracy, quality, and brand fit.
Protect client confidentiality and follow responsible practices related to privacy, intellectual property, and human oversight.
Lead, mentor, and support members of the marketing team
Set clear priorities, responsibilities, and expectations
Review strategies, campaigns, reports, and deliverables
Help team members improve their marketing, communication, and AI skills
Identify opportunities to improve processes, training, and technology
Work closely with account management, design, development, content, sales, and agency leadership
