About The Position

The Marketing, Development, & Alumni Manager for the Positive Youth Development (PYD) Institute provides leadership for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of integrated marketing, development, donor engagement, 4-H alumni relations, and public relations strategies that advance the Institute's mission and strategic priorities. This position develops and executes initiatives and deliverables that increase awareness and understanding of Positive Youth Development and 4-H programs, strengthen engagement with 4-H alumni and supporters, cultivate entry-level donor relationships, and support fundraising activities. Working collaboratively with Institute leadership, Extension colleagues, campus partners, including the Wisconsin Foundation & Alumni Association (WFAA), volunteers, donors, 4-H alumni, and external stakeholders, this position oversees advancement efforts that build visibility, promote program impact, foster lifelong engagement with 4-H, and generate resources to support youth development programming across Wisconsin. This multifaceted position is designed with responsibility prioritization: 4-H PYD Marketing & communications: 50% Development (donor engagement & events): 20% 4-H alumni engagement: 20% Public relations: 10% This full-time, dynamic position reports directly to the PYD Institute Administrative Assistant Director and is part of the PYD Institute Administrative Team. This position works closely with the PYD Institute Director, the PYD Administrative Assistant Director, the PYD Financial & Development Assistant, and the WFAA Senior Director of Development for the Division of Extension. The successful candidate will be expected to actively and positively contribute to a collaborative team, demonstrate highly effective teamwork skills, meet deadlines, provide leadership for student staff members in service to this position’s responsibilities, and attend events, educational programs, staff retreats, and in-person meetings throughout the year.

Requirements

  • Five years of relevant professional experience in marketing and communications, or philanthropy.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience directing projects, campaigns, or teams with proven outcomes.
  • Experience developing and implementing marketing, communications, fundraising, or stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Experience building relationships with diverse stakeholder groups, including alumni groups.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing & communications, public relations, nonprofit management or related fields such as business, education, youth development, or community development.
  • Have a valid drivers license and a reliable source of independent transportation for periodic in-state work travel, and/or comply with requirements for UW-Madison vehicle use authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Fundraising/annual giving experience with demonstrated ability to meet benchmarks.
  • Experience in Higher Education settings or Cooperative Extension experience.
  • 4-H Positive Youth Development experience and/or knowledge
  • Experience building organizational capacity through training and support in marketing, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and marketing technology experience.
  • Budget management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and directs staff implementation of advancement initiatives and programs in alignment with the strategic plan
  • Collaborates with unit leadership to deliver directed program messaging to internal and external audiences
  • May serve as the unit liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups providing organizational information on business-relations issues, opportunities, and activities and representing the interests of the unit
  • Evaluates advancement strategy effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement
  • Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships
  • May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees
