About The Position

Washington National Cathedral is a house of prayer for all people, conceived by our founders to serve as a great church for national purposes. The Marketing Coordinator is a key member of the Cathedral’s fast-paced Marketing and Communications Department. Working closely with the Marketing Manager, the Marketing Coordinator helps execute marketing and communications initiatives across campaigns, from social media and email marketing to community outreach and event promotion. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who is passionate about marketing, eager to expand their skills, and excited to contribute to a high-performing team. They will collaborate regularly with departments such as Worship, Development, and Revenue to support the execution of strategic communications and outreach. The Marketing Coordinator is the day-to-day manager of the Cathedral’s email marketing and organic social media channels. This includes maintaining content calendars, drafting and scheduling communications, and ensuring all messaging aligns with brand voice and institutional goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or a related field.
  • Two to three years experience in marketing or communications.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms.
  • Experience with social media management.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative, dependable, and solutions-oriented.
  • Strong copywriting, editing, and proofreading abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with social media and email platform management.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with paid social: ability to support promoted posts, in-house ads, and social media boosts.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools and interpreting performance results.
  • Prior experience using Monday.com is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the departmental project management system (Monday.com), helping ensure clear timelines, task assignments, and progress tracking across campaigns and initiatives.
  • Organize and maintain the department’s shared file storage systems and folders.
  • Plan and execute email content calendars.
  • Draft, format, test, and schedule email communications including newsletters, marketing, fundraising emails, and institutional communications.
  • Monitor email marketing performance and implement best practices to increase engagement and effectiveness.
  • Manage organic social media publishing (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Maintain the social media content calendar, supporting the annual plan, to ensure a balanced mix of institutional, promotional, and mission-driven posts.
  • Track social media engagement metrics and support reporting processes.
  • Support community outreach initiatives by identifying and contacting partner organizations, distributing promotional materials, and attending events as needed.
  • Write and edit organic and marketing copy for digital campaigns, email newsletters, event promotions, social media, and internal materials.
  • Coordinate department-wide administrative needs such as supply orders, submitting monthly financials, and scheduling meetings.
  • Support the creation of presentations and slide decks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
