About The Position

The Marketing Communications Coordinator supports the development and execution of integrated communications that strengthen audience engagement, support organizational priorities and advance the Aquarium’s mission. This role serves as a communications partner to key functional areas, including Membership and Advancement, while leading day-to-day management of the Aquarium’s email communications platform. The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative and detail-oriented, with strong writing, project management and analytical skills. Success in this role requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, coordinate and produce cross-functional communications and use performance insights to refine strategy and improve engagement. Requirements

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams and external partners
  • Experience with email marketing platforms such as MailChimp or similar systems
  • Understanding of marketing and communications best practice across owned channels
  • Ability to analyze performance data and apply insights to improve engagement
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Public Relations or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

  • Manage communication workflows, timelines and deliverables for campaigns, initiatives, events and projects within key functional areas, including Membership and Advancement
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support integrated communications aligned with departmental and organizational goals
  • Serve as a communications liaison for designated departments by attending planning meetings, coordinating deliverables and supporting upcoming efforts
  • Serve as primary editor for designated communications projects, ensuring content accuracy, consistency and timely approvals
  • Lead day-to-day management of the Aquarium’s email communications platform, including copywriting, audience segmentation, scheduling, deployment, maintenance and optimization
  • Develop and execute email communications that support audience engagement, membership, fundraising, events and organizational priorities
  • Monitor email performance, audience behavior and industry trends to improve engagement and effectiveness
  • Support audience-focused messaging strategies for members, donors, event participants and other key audiences
  • Research, write, produce and distribute content that supports the Aquarium’s mission, programs, exhibits and revenue generation across multiple communication channels
  • Develop storytelling content that strengthens audience engagement and brand awareness
  • Identify emerging trends, audience opportunities and communication strategies to support organizational goals
  • Support photography and video content creation as needed to support key functional areas
  • Track and analyze campaign performance in key functional areas across email, website and social media channels using analytics and reporting tools
  • Develop reports with actionable insights and recommendations to improve communication strategies and audience engagement
  • Conduct testing and assessments to evaluate audience response and identify opportunities for optimization and growth
  • Attend Aquarium outreach activities and events that support strategic initiatives and audience engagement
  • Represent the Marketing team at select evening and special events
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal stakeholders, community partners and more
