About The Position

Join the Harvard Recreation Team as a Marketing Assistant. Harvard Recreation, managed by HealthFitness, is seeking a creative and motivated Marketing Assistant to support engagement and brand awareness across our recreation centers in Cambridge, MA. This part-time opportunity offers approximately 15 hours per week and is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on marketing experience in a dynamic campus recreation environment. Responsible for supporting the marketing and outreach efforts through content creation, social media management, short-form video production, graphic design, content scheduling, event coverage, and promotional activities. Works closely with the Marketing Coordinator to develop engaging digital content, maintain publishing schedules, and increase awareness of programs, services, events, and opportunities. Assists with event coverage, content planning, audience engagement, and marketing campaigns while ensuring adherence to client branding, accessibility, privacy, and communication standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, and platform-specific content strategies.
  • Proficiency using tools like Microsoft Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Proficiency creating or editing content using Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, CapCut, or similar tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, schedule, and publish social media content across platforms, including short-form video, photography, graphics, Stories, Reels, written copy, captions, and platform-specific creative designed to increase brand awareness, engagement, reach, and participation.
  • Attend programs, events, and activities to capture original photos and video content for real-time and future social media use, including behind-the-scenes content, event coverage, community-focused storytelling, and short-form video, as well as appearing in marketing content or on-camera.
  • Manage and maintain the social media content calendar, coordinating timely promotion of programs, events, campaigns, deadlines, facility updates, and organizational priorities.
  • Research social media trends, platform updates, emerging content formats, competitor activity, and audience behavior; recommend new ideas and opportunities to improve engagement, reach, and account growth.
  • Review social media performance metrics, organize creative assets and templates, and assist with community engagement, outreach, and special social media projects.
