About The Position

DreamYard is seeking a Marketing and Communications Coordinator to oversee its social media channels, maintain its website, and manage email communications. This role involves creating and capturing content for online use, as well as copywriting and graphic design using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva. The position is part-time, 20 hours per week, and is currently temporary through December 31, 2026, with potential for extension. While primarily remote, the role requires monthly in-office presence in the Bronx for staff meetings and occasional attendance at events for content capture.

Requirements

  • Experience using MailChimp, Wordfly, Mail2, or similar platforms.
  • Experience in managing social media accounts/content creation in the arts sector or equivalent, especially Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Working familiarity with Google suite, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong writing, copyediting, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong visual instincts across both static and video content, with the ability to execute on-brand assets independently.
  • Reliable self-starter with the ability to work both independently and cooperatively as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic video editing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a content plan for DreamYard’s Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, including drafting post copy and creating visual content (graphics, photos, video).
  • Establish benchmarks for social media engagement and iterate accordingly.
  • Perform all site updates through the Wordpress-based CMS and coordinate updates with program teams.
  • Liaise with the Director of IT for technical website issues.
  • Utilize MailChimp to produce email communications (average frequency: twice a month), ensuring best practices and list hygiene.
  • Responsible for first-pass copy and content for email communications, including a monthly newsletter for educators and parents, and a dedicated newsletter for donors and board members.
  • Attend DreamYard classes and community events as needed to capture documentation of student activities for social media and email newsletters (estimated frequency: once a month).
  • Generate graphics, documents, and other visual assets using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and other software, adhering to the DreamYard style guide.
  • Design and develop materials for recruiting and events in collaboration with program teams.
  • Provide first-pass copy for all DreamYard public-facing materials.
  • Work with stakeholders on key talking points, messaging, and edits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
