Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or Clinical discipline.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in healthcare management preferred.
  • Excellent skills in forecasting, market based planning, communications and public relations.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements business and marketing plans for the rehabilitation hospital.
  • Establishes strategic marketing plans in collaboration with senior leadership to achieve the facility’s objectives.
  • Designs and maintains systems that foster strong relationships with managed care providers, Medicare representatives, case managers, other payers, and appropriate hospital personnel to support the development and maintenance of a strong patient referral network and favorable reimbursement arrangements.
  • Manages the Marketing and Admissions teams.
  • Implements a comprehensive business plan to ensure census and mix forecasts are met or exceeded. The plan identifies internal and external targets by referral group and percentage, insurance rate targets, and action plans to evaluate the effectiveness of the Clinical Liaison team. The plan is reviewed and updated at least quarterly to ensure all business indicators are achieved.
  • Ensures comprehensive external market information is gathered continuously regarding customers, competitors, and market conditions.
  • Oversees the Clinical Liaison and Admissions teams.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of and ability to perform all business development functions, as needed.
  • Develops and manages the marketing department’s operating budget.
  • Develops, organizes, and maintains database systems to support decision-making, including community needs assessments, demand forecasting, program and service utilization, competitive analysis, and medical staff utilization trends. Utilizes software tools, including Kindred Hospital information systems, along with internal and external database information for statistical analysis.
  • Serves as a liaison between Financial Services, Information Systems, and Business Development regarding internal data collection and the distribution of demand and utilization data. Designs control systems to measure the effectiveness and results of market development and market penetration efforts.
  • Ensures appropriate patient selection and assists patients and families in making informed admission decisions.
  • Creates and implements comprehensive marketing plans and programs annually and as needed to support the facility’s short- and long-term goals.
  • Compares local, regional, and national research data to identify opportunities for cost and quality improvement by product line and physician practice patterns.
  • Establishes planning partnerships with healthcare organizations and agencies to obtain research information. Evaluates opportunities for joint or shared programs and coordinates external agency surveys to gather the best available local market data.
  • Interfaces directly with managed care providers, key physicians, and other program delivery personnel to provide expertise in the development and implementation of business plans, situation analyses, and feasibility studies. Evaluates opportunities for new joint or shared programs and services, product line development, product enhancement, and product differentiation within a competitive market environment.
  • Maintains consistent communication with referral sources, case managers, and managed care providers to maximize hospital revenue while supporting a high standard of patient care.
  • Maintains measurement and tracking systems that deliver timely reports and presentations on a regular basis. Provides specific performance feedback to the CEO and COO on a monthly and quarterly basis.
