About The Position

Alpha Lion is a rapidly expanding performance nutrition brand focused on helping men over 30 maintain vitality and maximize their potential through science-backed products. The company is seeking a Market & Consumer Insights Lead to establish and own the Market & Consumer Insights Engine. This role is a unique opportunity to build a function from the ground up, reporting directly to the CMO. The lead will be responsible for shaping product development, target audience identification, and go-to-market strategies by providing validated intelligence. This is a hands-on role focused on building research infrastructure and translating findings into actionable recommendations for the leadership team. It's a high-leverage, high-impact, and highly visible position where the work directly influences product and growth decisions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in consumer insights, market research, strategy, or product strategy.
  • Direct experience shaping product, positioning, or capital allocation decisions.
  • Background in consumer brands (CPG and/or DTC) preferred, especially health, wellness, or supplements.
  • Experience with competitive analysis tools and consumer research methods (interviews, surveys, review mining, social listening).
  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal).
  • No degree required, demonstrated judgment matters more than credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Run the primary research cadence, including customer interviews, surveys, review mining, support log analysis, buyer persona tracking, and NPS/satisfaction diagnostics to maintain an updated understanding of the customer.
  • Build and maintain a system for tracking competitor positioning, pricing, formulation, and sales strategies, delivering competitor briefs and identifying potential threats.
  • Provide market sizing (TAM/SAM), demand validation, positioning hypotheses, and pricing research for the product stage gate process, with the ability to recommend 'No-Go' decisions when necessary.
  • Identify areas of success and failure by synthesizing churn drivers, product quality issues, and satisfaction gaps using customer data and market benchmarks.
  • Monitor macro trends impacting the category, such as GLP-1 adoption, ingredient shifts, regulatory changes, media platform evolution, and consumer behavior changes.
  • Translate insights into clear, digestible formats for Product, Growth, Retention, and Leadership teams, and provide creative and positioning recommendations to Growth and Media teams.
  • Build the insights operating system from scratch, including research standards, workflows, a centralized repository, and learning loops to ensure scalability.
