About The Position

Paul D. Camp Community College is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia with campuses in Franklin and Suffolk, and a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates in transfer and career/technical programs; credit and non-credit workforce services and training for businesses and industries; special interest classes for the community; and summer classes for youth through the Regional Workforce Development Center. A dual enrollment program for high school students, online courses, and developmental studies classes are also available. This position involves providing instruction, support, assessment, and mentorship to community college learners in various maritime trades programs for the Division of Workforce Development. These programs include areas such as pipe fitting, sheet metal, ship fitting, coating, outside machinist, and electrical. Instructors are expected to fully participate in the mission and community of the college, with a major emphasis on teaching. This involves working with Workforce (non-credit) program participants in classrooms, laboratories, field sites, distance learning, individual conferences, and related contexts to help learners develop their interests and abilities to the fullest. This is a Grant-Funded Restricted Full-time position.

Requirements

• Experience in maritime trades such as pipe fitting, sheet metal, ship fitting, coating, outside machinist, and electrical.
• Ability to instruct, support, assess, and mentor community college learners.
• Willingness to fully participate in the mission and community of the college.

Responsibilities
