About The Position

River Valley Marine is seeking an experienced Marine Service Advisor / Service Writer to join their award-winning dealership. This role primarily supports the Service Department, with occasional assistance to the Parts Department during peak periods. The ideal candidate will help customers with repairs, maintenance, seasonal service, and boating questions, ensuring an exceptional ownership experience. Experience from the marine, automotive, RV, powersports, heavy equipment, or other dealership environments is welcome, as long as the candidate enjoys helping customers, solving problems, and building relationships.

Requirements

  • Genuine passion for boating, fishing, watersports, or lake life
  • Experience as a Marine Service Advisor, Marine Service Writer, Boat Service Writer, Automotive Service Advisor, RV Service Writer, Powersports Service Advisor, Service Writer, Parts Advisor, or a similar dealership service professional
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to explain technical information in a way customers understand
  • Comfortable recommending maintenance, repairs, accessories, and seasonal services
  • High attention to detail and strong follow-through
  • Strong computer skills
  • Positive attitude and team-first mentality
  • Valid driver's license required

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding repairs, maintenance, diagnostics, winterization, storage, commissioning, and seasonal service.
  • Write accurate repair orders and service estimates.
  • Schedule repairs and coordinate technician workflow.
  • Communicate repair recommendations, timelines, and repair updates.
  • Keep customers informed throughout the repair process.
  • Assist with warranty administration and service documentation.
  • Follow up after service to ensure an exceptional customer experience.
  • Build long-term customer relationships that create loyal River Valley Marine customers.
  • Assist the Parts Department during busy periods and seasonal demand.
  • Help customers identify the correct marine parts and accessories when needed.
  • Support technicians by coordinating parts requests with the Parts Department.
  • Assist with special orders, warranty parts, and customer pickups.
  • Help maintain accurate documentation within dealership systems.
  • Work collaboratively with our Parts Manager to ensure customers receive timely, accurate service.
  • Deliver an exceptional ownership experience for every customer.
  • Build lasting relationships with customers and fellow boating enthusiasts.
  • Utilize Lightspeed EVO and dealership software to document customer interactions.
  • Support dealership goals related to customer satisfaction, efficiency, profitability, and teamwork.
