About The Position

The Marine Regional Operations Manager (MROM) is responsible for ensuring smooth operations and profitability of the Marine services business within a specific region. The MROM role involves overseeing the daily operations including sales, design and field activities of each region, managing or coordinating staff, implementing company processes and monitoring safety, financial and KPI performance.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business, required; or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
7 years Fire Protection or similar marine service Industries experience, required.
10 years of professional computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
Must be able to comply with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreement.

Nice To Haves

5 years leadership experience with over mid-managers including 5 direct reports and 25 indirect reports, preferred.
5 years performing sophisticated business analytics using business intelligence systems, ERP systems, or similar, preferred.

Responsibilities

Grow assigned areas of marine specific business through enhancement of operations, margin improvement and increase of revenues through sales.
Establish key short and long-term priorities. Monitor progress towards agreed upon goals.
Coordinate with branches on performance, customer service, and compliance issues.
Assist in establishing annual budgets
Manage, train, and support management in the assigned locations.
Utilize reporting tools including dashboards to communicate key metrics of performance (KPI’s).
Ensure progress and attainment of goaled Profit & Loss for each assigned location.
Attend progress meetings at locations based on the perception of priority.
Oversee profitability of assigned locations’ services including analysis of market conditions, billing rates, costs, trends, and similar.
Coordinate and monitor scheduling and completion of work orders
Review and approve bonus or commissions reports as appropriate.
Utilize accounting software for assistance with (or general knowledge of) billing, tracking costs, etc.
Review and update best practices and operational standards for accuracy in current procedures.
Report regularly on the state of operations on each branch and district assigned.
Partner with managers to review technician routes; adjust to improve efficiency by using business intelligence systems and workflow processes.
Identification and implementation of consistent workflows, best practices including, but not limited to, WFM and Project Cost Summaries, processes across the regional footprint.
Develop and maintain business relationships with new and existing customer base for assigned region; increase key sales.
Assist with general marketing activities and promotion of services.
Assist branches with adding product lines and services within the market.
Coordinate with Director of Service Sales and Regional Sales Manager to achieve business development and growth goals.
Make sales calls on key customers as warranted by circumstances within region.
Review and approve job estimates, inspection agreements and service quotes per the Review Matrix.
Identify and coordinate with Leadership and Corporate development teams on acquisitions and greenfield start-ups.
Provide leadership of operational procedures and protocols in region such as: purchasing and sourcing, scheduling, coordination of work, billing, and collections; as well as tools, equipment and inventory.
Oversee communication and coordination between assigned locations and shared services such as Purchasing Department, Design Department, Accounting Department, Human Resources Department, Talent Recruiting Department, Safety & Fleet Department, IT Department, Marketing Department, Billing Department and similar.
Ensure succession planning is achieved by collaborating with location and district leadership in assessing, identifying, cultivating, and mentoring future managers and leaders.
Collaborate with Human Resources and the managers to ensure that company policies, including Equal Opportunity Employment and Harassment and Discrimination prevention policies, are consistently administered within assigned region.
Monitor and support employee relations such as recruitment and retention initiatives within assigned region to ensure effectiveness.
Assist with monitoring and evaluation of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) leads and follow through as appropriate.
Participate in the National Marine Division growth plan and strategy
