About The Position

In Business since 1919 and still growing, Arrow is a leader in bulk commodity hauling, reload operations, freight management, logistics, consulting, and technology with operations throughout Canada and the U.S. As an Arrow Marine Mechanic, you are required to remove and replace engines, mechanical systems, and fluid systems of commercial vessels. You will have the ability to perform a TCI/CSI (Re/Re prop, shaft, cutlass bearings, packing, dripless seals, various measurements and through hulls and valves) on commercial vessels. You will be able to take readings of shafts, rudder stocks and identify corrosion areas or wear on these parts. For more information visit Arrow

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the marine industry or a related field
  • Red Seal certification as a Heavy Duty Technician or Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, including hydraulics and electrical systems, with the ability to read schematics and perform diagnostics
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail and quality
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including under pressure
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the interpersonal ability to work in a diverse environment
  • Physically capable of performing demanding work, including lifting, carrying, and climbing on tugboats, fishing vessels, and barges

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical experience with 12/24/110-volt systems, welding and fabrication experience, confined space training, and a Class 5 forklift ticket are all considered assets

Responsibilities

  • Remove and replace engines, mechanical systems, and fluid systems of commercial vessels.
  • Perform a TCI/CSI on commercial vessels.
  • Install new and added-on equipment.
  • Repair cooling, and lubrication systems.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work.
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
  • Work in adherence to all safe work practices, procedures, as well as all regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
