About The Position

Avail Staffing is seeking skilled Marine Insulators to work at its shipyard facility, installing, maintaining, and repairing insulation systems aboard naval and commercial vessels. The role involves working with a range of insulation materials and methods in shipboard environments. Candidates with active DBIDS credentials will take priority.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of experience in marine or industrial insulation.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with hand tools and insulation installation equipment.
• Physical ability to climb, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in confined or elevated spaces aboard ships.
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.

Nice To Haves

• Active DBIDS credentials; candidates with these credentials will take priority.
• Prior experience in naval ship repair or shipbuilding environments.
• Familiarity with NAVSEA standards and military insulation specifications.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Experience working in active shipyard or government contract environments.

Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, and install insulation materials—including fiberglass, foam, calcium silicate, and mineral wool—on shipboard pipes, ducts, bulkheads, tanks, and equipment.
• Fabricate and install insulation blankets, pads, and covers to fit complex shapes and systems.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and insulation-related equipment such as banding tools and sewing machines.
• Apply vapor barriers, aluminum or stainless-steel jacketing, and mastic coatings to provide fire, heat, and moisture resistance.
• Follow blueprints, drawings, and work specifications to determine insulation requirements.
• Remove old or damaged insulation and dispose of materials in accordance with safety and environmental protocols.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area while following shipyard safety regulations and PPE requirements.
