About The Position

SCMI1 has an exciting opportunity for a Marine Engineer (Diesel focus) supporting diesel engine propulsion systems and ship service diesel generators onboard Navy surface ships and Submarines/Aircraft Carriers while working alongside program managers, engineers and Navy personnel as part of the Diesel Readiness System (DRS) Engineering Support Program. DRS is the current U.S. Navy program for providing diesel condition-based maintenance designed to support the fleet operations, including Carriers and Submarines. The objective of DRS is to improve and sustain the operational availability of U.S. Navy fleet diesel engines. NSWCPD Codes 421 and 422 are responsible for DRS Program execution. Vast majority of work will be performed remotely (ideally local to the Philadelphia, PA or Norfolk, VA regions). Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time may be required to CONUS and OCONUS Naval facilities and ship new construction yard facilities.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance and clearing necessary background checks/assessments as required.
  • Active high-level Security Clearance will be required, and current Security Clearance is desired.
  • BS in Marine Engineering is highly desired.
  • Up to 5 years’ experience in diesel engine operation, maintenance and troubleshooting (will consider recent grads from Maritime/Merchant Marine Academy)
  • Excellent communication skills and works well in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Shipboard experience desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Diesel engine data analysis/trending/reporting, logistics development, project planning, training support, test plan and procedure development and meeting/presentation support.
  • Conduct ship visits (inspections and data collection).
  • Diesel Engine calibration and governor control verification.
  • Troubleshooting diesel propulsion and generation systems.
  • Installation support for new system upgrades onboard US Navy ships and Submarines.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by project leadership.
