About The Position

The Marine Coordinator supports projects by coordinating among various departments within the business from project kickoff, throughout implementation, to completion. This position also provides cross-project support by interfacing with the quality team, factory staff, and project managers. SubCom engineers, manufactures, and installs subsea fiber optic data cables, which are critical for global communication. The company has a long history, dating back to the mid-19th century, and has deployed a significant amount of cable since entering the communications industry in 1955. SubCom emphasizes quality, reliability, and value in its end-to-end solutions for high-tech networks.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Completion of a higher education degree or a technical/vocational program
  • Experience with Math & Statistics, Computer Operations
  • Proficient verbal and written communications
  • Critical thinking aptitude (problem solving and identifying areas for improvement)
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, in particular Excel, Word and Power Point is preferred.
  • Ability to work well in group / collaborative settings.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Microsoft project a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Manager, Marine Coordination & Implementation with creating and maintaining project documentation for customer presentations, including gathering, collating, and formatting PowerPoint slides.
  • Engage in process improvement initiatives, including forward-looking analysis of ship schedules and developing enhanced tracking tools for goods from shipment to destination.
  • Identify early project-specific export paperwork requirements and interface with factory (Shipping Authorization), load EICs/MES (as built SLDs), PMs (pricing), and logistics (IOR, Agents, etc.).
  • Provide ISO-focused support for the broader marine coordinator team, such as quality control for customer-facing documentation (reviewing presentations, permitting project briefs, SOWs, MOPs, etc.).
  • Plan and deliver daily progress reports when required and provide other support for customer contract deliverables.
  • Develop a process to further automate Marine Coordinator inputs to export commercial invoice creation (long-term objective).
  • Manage spares inventory trackers on behalf of the client.
  • Assist Marine Coordinators and Project Managers with specific project tasks, such as fuel true-up analysis, marine true-up analysis, and meeting attendance.
  • Perform other general tasks, including assisting in data transfer between SubCom and 3rd party contractors.
  • Maintain Marine Coordinator (and other as needed) SharePoint sites to ensure content is kept current and organized.
  • Assist in generating and maintaining purchase requisitions for the various groups within marine services.
