Marine Welder
About The Position
QED Systems, an experienced marine engineering, planning, and ship modernization firm, is seeking Marine Welders. Qualified candidates must be experienced in welding and/or brazing applications, able to join metal components together through the process of welding or brazing in both shop and shipboard environments, select materials required to accomplish removals / installations / repairs / alterations, and cut / burn / grind surfaces (as directed). The individual must also be able to comply with all applicable safety regulations, work under industrial repair conditions, work in confined spaces, and climb vertical/inclined ladders. All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experienced in welding and/or brazing applications
- Able to join metal components together through the process of welding or brazing in both shop and shipboard environments
- Able to select materials required to accomplish removals / installations / repairs / alterations
- Able to cut / burn / grind surfaces (as directed)
- Able to comply with all applicable safety regulations
- Able to work under industrial repair conditions
- Able to work in confined spaces
- Able to climb vertical/inclined ladders
- Successfully demonstrate the skills and ability to certify to QED Weld Procedures for Steel (mandatory) and Aluminum (desired) base metals
- Able to read, interpret, and follow blue prints or technical drawings and understand associated welding symbols
- Able to pass an x-ray weld test
- U.S. citizenship required
- Must meet and maintain eligibility for U.S. Secret Clearance
- Able to access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards
