About The Position

The Marine Construction Laborer will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to marine construction projects. This includes ensuring the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of materials, equipment, and machinery. The role involves assisting in the loading and unloading of materials, equipment, and supplies, and performing tasks such as demolition, construction, and installation of seawalls, docks, piles, and boat lifts. Responsibilities also include digging, shoveling, leveling, lifting, carrying, carpentry, framing, rigging, positioning structural components, and working with various tools and equipment. Maintaining site cleanliness, disposing of waste materials, and assisting with routine equipment maintenance are also key duties. The position requires adherence to safety guidelines and reporting any maintenance issues or safety hazards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Construction experience
  • Current, valid driver’s license
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Conversational in English
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Ability to work a full shift in extreme heat
  • Ability to swim
  • Ability to pass a controlled substance screening
  • Ability to pass a background check

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in marine construction
  • Working knowledge of engineering drawings, sketches, and blueprints
  • OSHA 10 Certified
  • OSHA 4-Hour Qualified Rigging & Signaling
  • CPR & First Aid Certified
  • Class A CDL license
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper setup, operation, take-down, cleanliness, organization, and maintenance of materials, equipment, and machinery.
  • Assist in loading/unloading of materials, equipment, and supplies to and from trucks, jobsites, and barges, ensuring proper stowage and securing of cargo.
  • Assist in proper mooring/anchoring of vessels, handling lines, chains, and anchors if operating on a barge.
  • Perform tasks aligned to projects: demolition, construction, and/or installation of seawalls, docks, piles, boat lifts: digging, shoveling, leveling, lifting, carrying, carpentry, framing, rigging, positioning structural components, and working with a wide variety of tools and equipment.
  • Ensure construction equipment and tools are clean, organized, and stored in an orderly fashion after each use.
  • Dispose of rubble/debris/trash and hazardous, worn, damaged, outdated, or other waste materials from work areas and maintain a baseline organization and site cleanliness.
  • Assist with routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning/painting/lubricating equipment & machinery.
  • Identify and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel for resolution.
