About The Position

The Carpenter is responsible for constructing, repairing, restoring, and installing structural woodwork and related materials. The Carpenter performs repairs, fabrications, and installations as per drawings, sketches and verbal instructions while following industry and best practices regarding safety standards.

Requirements

  • minimum 3-5 years experience in the carpentry trade or industry
  • Requires bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting
  • Requires the ability to use speech, vision and hearing
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Takes measurements and calculates the size and amount of material needed
  • Operates stationary power tools, hand power tools and hand tools
  • Layout, cut and assemble parts such as doors, paneling, boxes, rails and trim
  • Performs joinery work on vessel to fabricate and fit bulkheads, ceilings, windshield, windows, furniture, cabinet, desks, trims, handrails, cap rails and any other marine related joinery work
  • Install prefabricated and/or custom parts such as hatches, marine hardware, metal trim and other parts
  • Prepare, fabricate, install, or remove various teak parts and surfaces, including decks and panels
  • Applies knowledge of woodworking joints in the marine industry
  • Builds scaffolding and other construction structures
  • Able to read technical documents and drawings
  • Fabricate templates
  • Know how to work with acrylic materials
  • Stocks and assists in maintaining inventory of shop supplies, materials, tools and equipment
  • Maintains clean, orderly and safe work areas; properly maintains assigned equipment and tools
  • Documents work performed daily
  • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor and staff, co-workers, guests, vendors, contractors, etc.
  • Following company, industry and best practices regarding safety standards (safe equipment usage, personal protective equipment, reporting)
