About The Position

Come work on Puget Sound and join the team at Point Defiance Marina! Located on the water in the heart of Point Defiance Park, the marina has been serving Tacoma’s recreational boating community for over 100 years. Point Defiance Marina hosts nearly 300 tenants who house their boats in the facility, as well as a convenience, tackle, and souvenir shop. This position is under the direction of the Marina Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor and will act as a shift lead, supervising assigned staff and overseeing the function of the sales floor. The Marina Lead will also be expected to perform a variety of duties related to the operation of the Point Defiance Marina including but not limited to, accepting and processing tenant payments, selling Washington State fishing & hunting licenses using a computerized system, setting up and launching/retrieving boat rentals, assisting stranded rental boats, operating boat lift elevator system to launch and retrieve both tenant and rental boats, checking in and receiving vendor orders, restocking merchandise, and other related duties as assigned. Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Minimum of 2 years of previous work or volunteer experience with customer service, and/or cash handling responsibilities.
  • Ability to handle conflict and solve problems using tact, patience, and courtesy.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, the community, and patrons.
  • Ability to navigate emergency situations and make decisions quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a high level of customer service to patrons during a variety of events, programs, and rentals.
  • Provide assistance to Recreation participants and security for the facility.
  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
  • Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers.

  • May be responsible to open and/or close facility.
  • Supervise the site throughout the work shift; provide facility security as needed.
  • Assist in coordination of seasonal staff and volunteer schedules.
  • Provide direction and training to other staff.
  • Act as a shift lead.
  • Ensure program/facility rules, policies and procedures are followed; maintain and enforce safety standards and expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Starting salary of $19.88
  • Full hourly range of $19.88 - $23.28
