About The Position

Fastwater Staffing is seeking an experienced Contract Manufacturing Test Technician to support operations in Quonset, Rhode Island. The role involves hands-on work with technology for subsea robotics and supporting customer delivery milestones alongside engineering and operations teams in a multidisciplinary environment. The assignment supports scaling autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) production, with a focus on testing complex electromechanical assemblies and integrating verified hardware into final platforms. The technician will build, test, and integrate electrical and mechanical assemblies; perform subsystem End-of-Line tests and incoming PCBA inspections; and troubleshoot and repair electronics down to the component level. The role also supports pressure-vessel assembly and testing, device configuration, production-process improvement, work-area organization, equipment and inventory upkeep, and potentially offshore field operations or vessel trials. This is a contract assignment performed on-site in Quonset Point, Rhode Island. The stated hourly rate is $25.00–$37.00, commensurate with demonstrated skills and experience.

  • Proven experience preparing, setting up, and executing rigorous test procedures with high attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of core electrical engineering concepts and circuit theory.
  • Proficiency reading and working from technical documentation, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrated commitment to hardware reliability, test integrity, and personal accountability for deliverables.
  • Hands-on proficiency with standard electrical test equipment, including DMMs, oscilloscopes, benchtop power supplies, and function generators.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and detail-oriented technical execution skills.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative, adaptability, and a strong focus on project deadlines.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience safely handling electrical systems operating up to 400VDC.
  • Hands-on experience with subsea cable splicing, potting, or custom harness fabrication.
  • Experience with hydrostatic test setups, pressure vessels, or high-pressure pneumatic or hydraulic systems.
  • Current or past IPC-A-610 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 certifications.
  • Familiarity with low-volume, high-mix (LVHM) or prototype-to-production manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering and operations personnel on pressure-vessel assembly and testing as part of AUV integration milestones.
  • Configure devices by flashing and loading specified software and firmware versions onto target hardware.
  • Build, test, and integrate complex electrical and mechanical assemblies into AUV systems.
  • Execute subsystem End-of-Line (EOL) tests according to prepared procedures and documentation.
  • Conduct incoming quality inspection testing on printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs).
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical, electronic, and integrated circuits down to the component level.
  • Support refinement, documentation, and continuous improvement of pressure-vessel production and test processes.
  • Maintain 5S standards at test benches and work areas; conduct physical part inspections; close assigned work orders; and follow facility safety protocols.
  • Assist with equipment upkeep, calibration tracking, tooling organization, and lab inventory maintenance.
  • Potentially support offshore field operations, testing, or vessel trials as project requirements dictate.
