About The Position

The Manager I Test Engineering is responsible for overseeing the testing processes and activities within the engineering department. This position involves managing a team of test engineers, developing, and implementing test strategies, and ensuring that products meet quality and performance standards. The Manager I Test Engineering collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve testing methodologies and deliver high-quality products while meeting project timelines and budget constraints.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or related field (required)
  • 6-10 years of experience in managing engineering in areas of electronic, machining, structures, composites, finishing, assembly, and testing environment (required)
  • Experience as a Supervisor or Foreman
  • Ability to set up and operate all machine shop equipment including presses, grinders, forming tools, and knowledge of fabrication methods
  • A working knowledge of programming, set up, and running of CNC machinery
  • Experience in the Stereolithography process.
  • Familiar with electromechanical test lab procedures and equipment
  • Experience in building maintenance services and environmental training

Responsibilities

  • Effectively coaching and professionally developing a team of Test Engineers.
  • Regularly updating training needs and establishing a program to keep the skills of the team current, regular, and effective.
  • Implementing and maintaining the quality requirements in the manufacturing/repair/testing process.
  • Ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental and quality practices and procedures as outlined in organizational/departmental guidelines and SOPs as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Scheduling, assigning, and supervising/constructing work projects assigned to the Model Shop and Test Lab.
  • Coordinating the construction of stereolithography models to achieve maximum utilization of SLA equipment.
  • Ensuring the correct and safe building and handling of SLA models.
  • Designing and supervising the construction of tools, dies, fixtures, jigs, and models used in the Model Shop and Test Lab.
  • Selecting and scheduling machines and equipment for repairs or overhaul to maintain accuracy and reliability.
  • Contacting vendors and obtaining competitive prices prior to ordering of tools, materials, or contract services.
  • Maintaining records and files of test reports, programs for CNC, SLA models, time sheets, work sheets, vacation schedules, and all relevant information to maintain good records.
  • Maintaining inventory of all tools and materials.
