About The Position

Eaton’s IS VEH VGNA division is currently seeking a Manufacturing Technician for the Afternoon Shift. This role involves setting up and operating assigned machines and gauging equipment to process machined components. The position requires adherence to quality and safety standards, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. Eaton announced the intent to separate its Mobility Group into an independent company, expected to be completed by the end of Q1 2027. Initial compensation and benefits are based on Eaton's plans, with the new company providing further details upon separation completion.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of experience setting up and operating CNC machining equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Kings Mountain, NC.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of CNC setup and operation experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience machining gears or spline components (e.g., hobbing, shaping, shaving, hard turning).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and process sheets.
  • Experience using SPC methods and precision inspection tools to maintain quality standards.
  • Familiarity with tooling selection, tool wear monitoring, and minor machine maintenance.
  • Knowledge of IATF/TS 16949 or ISO 14000 standards in a production setting.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate assigned machines and gauging equipment to process machined components from rough material for pre–heat treat processes or from heat-treated material for post–heat treat processes.
  • Set up and operate CNC equipment including CNC lathes, hobs, shapers, shavers, deburring equipment, hard turn lathes, and hard finish machines per process sheets and drawings.
  • Use inspection and measurement tools such as SPC equipment, attribute gauges, OD micrometers, dial indicators, bench centers, alignment fixtures, measuring pins, and robots to ensure part quality.
  • Select, install, and visually inspect tooling for proper setup; monitor tools for wear and make adjustments as needed to maintain specifications.
  • Produce parts that meet all quality, spline/tooth form, lead, involute, finish, and size requirements; obtain gear lab inspections and readjust setups when necessary.
  • Inspect product samples using proper inspection procedures and maintain SPC charts, control plans, and related documentation.
  • Perform minor and preventative maintenance on machines and utilize hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, air hoses, arbors, plugs, and cups as required.
  • Safely handle materials, including lifting rough forgings up to 35 pounds with or without accommodation, and adhere to all safety procedures and company policies.
  • Support continuous improvement and team objectives by following Quality (TS 16949) and Environmental (ISO 14000) systems and reporting unusual conditions, defects, or safety concerns to a Coach.
