About The Position

The Manufacturing Technical Training Specialist designs, develops, and delivers advanced technical training programs, ensuring that training content is accurate, engaging, and tailored to meet the needs of the target audience while addressing any learning challenges. This position has daily interface with employees, co-workers, managers, and Sr. Leadership customers as needed and will require strong problem solving and communication skills. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Ability to recognize and appropriately address learning problems
  • Fully proficient in using various software applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to produce training materials
  • Fully proficient verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Fully proficient analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Fully proficient knowledge of training processes: design, development, production, and documentation/control
  • Ability to exercise judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Experience with training management systems and performing training related activities
  • Experience working with customers/teammates on training development projects
  • Experience training Soldering Electrical and Electronic Assemblies to IPC/EIA J-STD 001
  • Experience training Harness and Cable Assembly Fabrication to IPC/WHMA-A-620
  • Proficient ability to present technical information to peers using written and verbal approaches
  • Ability to build productive internal and external working relationships
  • Understanding and application of company policies and procedures to resolve issues
  • Ability to network with key contacts within and outside own area of expertise
  • Highly proficient knowledge of applicable subject matter and equipment, training aids, interactive multi-media training technologies

Responsibilities

  • Support technical and core process training for Manufacturing
  • Utilize technical knowledge and performance based instructional skills in areas such as Hand Soldering, Electrical and Electronic Assemblies, Acceptance of Printed Circuit Boards, Harness and Cable Assemblies, Use of Torque and Precision Measurement Tools, and other related courses as required to meet functional/program training certification needs
  • Updates course documentation regularly to ensure relevance and accuracy
  • Performs technical research and collaborates with customers, engineers, and tech writers to develop and ensure existing course material reflects current product features and requirements
  • Ensure that all employee training is current and maintain training database
  • Interact daily with employees, co-workers, managers, and customers as required
  • Create, review, and update online training with specific process information and other process direction; review and assign course frequency
  • Establish training sessions including assigning individuals to the course as needed, setting up classroom, and scheduling trainings
  • Directs work and offers technical direction and mentoring to lower-level specialists and technicians
  • Evaluates training effectiveness and instructor performance, providing developmental recommendations
  • Conduct IPC and Initial Hands-on training as required; requires obtaining/maintaining certifications
  • Communicate to supervisors regularly on aptitude of new operators to ensure performance concerns are dealt with immediately
  • Conduct regularly scheduled cell/program refresher or corrective action training based on defects or challenges identified
  • Assist in implementation of assembly aides, workbook improvements, or new build guidance
  • Acts as a subject matter expert and independently responsible for training material completion
