About The Position

The Manufacturing Team Lead plays a pivotal role in driving the success of the shop by overseeing day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring product quality, and optimizing team performance. This role requires a strong leader who can manage production workflows, maintain a safe and organized environment, and support the team to achieve operational excellence. With a focus on efficiency, quality, and team development, the Shop Foreman ensures the shop runs smoothly, meeting and exceeding company goals.

Requirements

  • Ability to lead, motivate, and mentor a diverse team of shop employees to achieve productivity and quality goals.
  • Proficiency in manufacturing processes, equipment operation, and repair/maintenance techniques relevant to the shop’s operations.
  • Clear and professional communication with team members, managers, and other departments to ensure alignment and efficiency.
  • Ability to maintain high-quality standards by inspecting work and ensuring compliance with safety and operational guidelines.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, tackle unexpected challenges, and remain focused under pressure.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a shop or manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining shop equipment, such as welding machines, saws, and forklifts.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong team management skills, including the ability to motivate and mentor employees.
  • Excellent analytical skills to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise shop employees, including welders, saw operators, and other production staff.
  • Assign tasks, set daily priorities, and ensure adherence to production schedules.
  • Provide on-the-job training and ongoing coaching to improve employee skills and performance.
  • Monitor daily shop operations to ensure efficient workflows and high-quality output.
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure products meet specifications and company standards.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections to address and mitigate hazards.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of shop equipment, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Schedule regular equipment inspections and coordinate with external technicians as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of tools and materials, ensuring availability for scheduled production.
  • Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks and technical issues.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Lead initiatives to implement lean manufacturing practices where applicable.
  • Act as a liaison between shop staff and management, providing regular updates on progress and challenges.
  • Communicate clearly with team members to ensure understanding of goals and expectations.
