About The Position

This internship focuses on Supply Chain management within a fast-paced plant environment. Interns will contribute to GM's 'Look Ahead' culture by developing strategic perspectives and establishing goals. The role requires innovation and creativity to drive results, while also developing interpersonal skills such as prioritization, balancing multiple projects, and meeting goals.

Requirements

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Engineering Technology, or Business/Management.
  • Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
  • Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Must be willing to work in a plant environment.
  • Walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Read standardized work instructions, operate machines and tools, and perform quality inspections.
  • Promptly detect and respond to safety instructions, alarms, and signals.
  • Wear personal protective equipment, for example: safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs, and safety shoes.
  • Work in a loud manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled (conditions can be hot or cold).
  • Frequently and repetitively bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach to perform work.
  • Lift or carry materials weighing up to 15 pounds and periodically carry or lift materials weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Occasionally sit, climb (including ladders and lifts) and drive vehicles and equipment.
  • Do not apply for this role if you will need GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Highly proficient with Microsoft office products - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skill ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience
  • Demonstrated leadership in field of study, extracurricular activities or service organizations
  • Experience with commodities (metals, stampings, castings, plastics, resins, paint, electronics, etc.)
  • Exposure to logistics, packaging or manufacturing
  • Knowledge of procurement software and databases
  • Knowledge of materials management
  • Experience with interpreting market data
  • Exposure to reading blueprints and understanding basic engineering documents
  • Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment
  • Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability and trust
