About The Position

The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for enforcing safety rules, coordinating and planning manufacturing operations, and supervising department assets and resources. This role involves supporting management in scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. The supervisor will also be involved in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of Automation Technicians, providing day-to-day coaching and mentorship to foster teamwork and accountability. Additionally, the position requires identifying training needs, coordinating training schedules, and guiding employee development through performance feedback and evaluations. Collaboration with Application and Service Departments for field installations and service support is crucial. The role includes purchasing operating materials, approving expense reports within budget, and working cross-functionally with various departments (Sales, Order Entry, Materials, Engineering, Project Management) to meet efficiency, productivity, quality, and production goals. The supervisor will also help define and document departmental policies and procedures, lead Continuous Improvement efforts, and maintain Quality Assurance and ISO compliance. Key responsibilities include supervising the assembly, startup/debug, and testing of custom robotic systems, managing rigging team activities, and supporting field installations by ensuring access to necessary resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree and a minimum of 4 (four) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 (three) years of direct supervisory experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (leadership, professional development, teamwork, counseling, etc.).
  • Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and successfully attack multiple problems simultaneously.
  • Ability to shoulder constant pressures of a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • May frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce all safety rules and policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Support manufacturing management in coordinating, planning, scheduling, and supervising manufacturing department assets and resources (people, budget, capital equipment, tool room, floor space, etc.) within the established guidelines of departmental and company policy.
  • Assist in the full recruitment cycle, including interviewing, hiring and onboarding Automation Technicians.
  • Provide day-to-day coaching and mentorship, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Assist in identifying training needs, coordinate activity timing, and maintain a comprehensive training schedule for Manufacturing.
  • Guide employee development through performance feedback, coaching and annual evaluations.
  • Collaborate with Application and Service Departments to coordinate field installations and service support.
  • Purchase operating materials and approve expense reports under specific guidelines and within budget limits.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Order Entry, Materials, Engineering (mechanical/electrical/controls), customer, and Project Management functions to ensure efficiency, productivity, quality, and production goals are met on time and to the satisfaction of the customer and shareholders.
  • Work with leadership to define, document, and institute departmental policies and procedures.
  • Define, manage, assign, and carry out all necessary collateral duties.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement efforts through departmental feedback and lessons learned.
  • Maintain Quality Assurance, ISO compliance, and continuous improvement programs to drive operational excellence.
  • Supervise the assembly, startup/debug and test of "one-of-a-kind” custom robotic systems.
  • Manage rigging team activities for the assembly and setup of large mechanical structures.
  • Support field installation by ensuring access to necessary materials, documentation, tools, and engineering assistance.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
