The Manufacturing Supervisor role involves overseeing and managing diverse production activities, including planning, directing, and monitoring production to meet established specifications, schedules, volume/cost/wastage targets, and quality standards. This position requires collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply & Logistics, and Sales to develop production schedules and allocate resources, as well as managing production line maintenance to minimize disruptions. Supervisors are expected to direct, leverage, and guide the work of others, mobilize resources, and typically manage two or more direct reports. Key responsibilities include monitoring operational and financial results, handling people management tasks such as hiring, training, and development, and addressing performance issues. The role also involves coordinating team resources, setting daily priorities, troubleshooting operational problems, and applying established procedures to enhance efficiency. Additionally, the supervisor is responsible for adhering to Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures, reporting unsafe conditions, and participating in corrective actions.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, directing, and monitoring production to meet established specifications, schedules, volume/cost/wastage targets, and quality standards.
  • Liaising with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply & Logistics, Sales, etc. as input to developing production schedules and allocating labor/capital resources.
  • Planning, prioritizing, and managing production line maintenance/downtime to minimize disruptions.
  • Directing, leveraging, and guiding the work of others, and mobilizing resources.
  • Managing two or more direct reports.
  • Monitoring and achievement of operational and/or financial results for their area of responsibility.
  • Performing people management actions such as hiring, terminating, rewarding, training, and developing employees.
  • Coaching and addressing performance related issues following progressive discipline for safety, quality, performance, training and attendance.
  • Supervising entry-level or semi-skilled hourly employees such as production, craft, and clerical workers.
  • Coordinating resources and setting daily priorities for the team to ensure task completion and operational objectives are met.
  • Monitoring daily operations of a unit or sub-unit.
  • Using judgment to identify, troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems.
  • Applying operational business practices and coordinating with other closely related areas to improve efficiency.
  • Directing operations of work units.
  • Interacting daily with subordinates or peers within similar or related functions primarily for the purpose of presenting and exchanging information.
  • Following all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
  • Reporting to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
  • Participating in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
  • Following all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
  • Reporting any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
