About The Position

The Manufacturing Supervisor will coordinate and provide technical, quality, and production leadership to an assigned team to meet quality, schedule, and cost goals. This role involves supporting Team Leaders with decision-making in process improvement and production, managing resources (manpower, machines, methods), and facilitating the flow of hardware through the manufacturing process. The supervisor will also support process improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, improve inventory turns, and reduce manufacturing losses. Administrative duties include managing timecards, labor vouchers, self-audits, absence reviews, and missing time corrections. The role requires coordinating first-line activities to ensure production schedules, customer satisfaction, and quality standards are met. Additionally, the supervisor will coach and counsel team members on performance and development, practice sound human relations, analyze and diagnose machine and tooling problems, and ensure the highest safety levels in the plant. Experience with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is expected, along with mentoring the team in safety, quality, and productivity improvements. This position requires the ability to support a 24/7 operation, including training on first shift and supporting other shifts for coverage as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of prior supervisor / leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior supervisory / leadership experience in manufacturing
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines and bring to successful completion
  • Strong team building / coaching skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations and practices
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to counsel and motivate team members
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to lead, by example
  • Must be able to support a 24/7 operation.
  • Must have the ability to train on first shift (if applicable) along with supporting other shifts for coverage purposes as needed.
  • Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs. when needed
  • Constantly stand and walk throughout the workday
  • It is required to stand, walk & reach with hands & arms
  • Good coordination to operate several controls simultaneously
  • Heavy visual concentration required to reach precision measuring instruments and to observe cutting operations
  • Frequent use of physical skills to operate a wide variety of machines & tools working to close tolerances
  • Has use of electric cranes & hoists for lifting & moving forgings
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Frequently reach with hands and arms; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel material
  • Constant use hands/fingers to grasp, pinch, pull, feel, or handle and manipulate parts and tools

  • Constantly wear eye protection (Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the Company, and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering preferred
  • (Prior experience, in CNC Machining, Dimensional Inspection, and knowledge of precision measuring equipment)
  • Prior machining leadership experience a plus
  • Six Sigma training is preferred
  • Strong propensity for excelling in a demanding environment

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and provide technical, quality and production leadership to assigned team to meet quality, schedule, and cost goals
  • Provide ongoing support in scheduling resources, technical leadership and facilitating the flow of hardware to meet customer requirements
  • Support Team Leaders with decision making in areas of process improvement and/or production to make appropriate resource decisions (manpower, machines, methods) to facilitate the flow of hardware through the manufacturing process
  • Support process improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, improve inventory turns and reduce manufacturing losses
  • Direct the activities of an hourly team within the department and participate in department activities to meet identified goals
  • Perform administrative duties to support the business, including timecards, labor vouchers, self-audits, absence reviews, missing time corrections, etc.
  • Coordinate all first line activities (i.e., Methods, Production Control) to assure the meeting of production schedules and customer satisfaction, cost goals, and maintaining the highest standards of quality
  • Coach and counsel team members regarding individual performance and development needs
  • Practice sound human relations and communications skills to motivate the work force
  • Review production orders and ensure production schedules are being met
  • Analyze and diagnose machine and tooling problems and takes corrective measures to minimize downtime and interruption of schedules
  • Achieve highest safety levels in the plant
  • Employ Six Sigma rigors to all functions within the department
  • Mentor and motivate team in safety, quality, and productivity improvements
  • Other duties as assigned
