About The Position

WPI is seeking a dedicated and experienced 2nd Shift Manufacturing Supervisor to join our team. This role is crucial for maintaining our meaningful work culture, where we emphasize teamwork and collective success. The ideal candidate will serve as a teacher, leader, and production expert, committed to continuously improving the work environment for our employees. This position is responsible for the overall product production of the assigned shift, encompassing quality, safety, team direction, coordination, training, and evaluation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required.
  • Ability to multi-task at a fast pace to manage the team and situations as they occur.
  • Ability to read and interpret computer documents such as safety rules, operation instructions, procedure manuals, B.O.M’s, work instructions and appropriate ISO procedures.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence via a computer in a professional & proficient manner.
  • Essential computer functions such as: Microsoft Office Outlook, EXCEL, WORD, and ability to efficiently navigate within IQMS.
  • Proficient or ability to learn and use company power tools, printers, label machines, grinders, riveters, drills, sonic welders, box tape machines and a variety of Presses and Mold Injections Machines.
  • Ability to use and read a variety of measuring tools such as calipers and scales.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to make good decisions and have a close attention to details.
  • Ability to lift 10-70lbs repeatedly, ability to stack, maneuver objects, bend, stand or and climb up to 8-10 hrs within the workday.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in business administration or manufacturing is preferred.
  • 5+ years Manufacturing and leadership (Supervisory or Management) Experience preferred.
  • Plastics Injection Molding Experience Preferred.
  • Technical Background (e.g. Service, Automation, Tooling, Processing,) in Plastics Injection Molding Manufacturing is preferred.
  • Forklift Certified (provided by WPI)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct the shift and personnel, participating in team activities to maintain and continuously improve departmental and shift performance goals.
  • Ensure workstations are supplied with necessary parts for production.
  • Maintain product quality and safety, with the authority to stop production to correct any issues.
  • Complete the production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, monitoring progress, and resolving problems.
  • Fulfill all product production based on the schedule.
  • Provide manufacturing information through production performance records and data.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and take appropriate action to maintain and improve production efficiencies and resource usage within established standards.
  • Train, evaluate, and take appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ensure effective onboarding and job function training for new hires.
  • Maintain a positive and energetic attitude when representing the company.
  • Manage emergency situations, including weather-related events, fire, evacuations, and industrial accidents.
  • Assess personnel abilities and resources, allocating them to areas of expertise.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and safe production floor.
  • Assist with proper inventory control.
  • Prepare management summary reports and brief the manager on daily activities.
  • Collaborate with HR to handle employee disciplinary actions and resolve situations.
  • Manage the shift’s hours and payroll.
  • Attend all assigned off-site and on-site training sessions.
  • Work closely with the Plant Manager, Plant Superintendent, Scheduler, and other Shift Supervisors.
