About The Position

The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for developing and supervising direct reports, ensuring compliance with standards, and managing resource allocation. This role involves training, coaching, and evaluating employees, enforcing work rules including safety and environmental policies, and planning resource utilization based on production requirements. The supervisor will also address operational problems, work with continuous improvement efforts, and complete administrative duties such as production records and incident reports.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and supervises direct reports, identifying developmental needs, training, coaching, orienting new and current employees.
  • Monitors and audits job enhancement progress.
  • Assigns daily work, evaluates performance, facilitates teamwork, coaches, counsels, and disciplines employees.
  • Provides reinforcement and positive relationship building.
  • Supports and enforces work rules, including safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards.
  • Ensures employees wear all safety personal protective equipment properly.
  • Applies corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Ensures weekly department meetings and other communication methods are used to inform employees about business requirements, safety, policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Enforces plant policies, procedures, and practices by coaching and counselling employees when violations occur.
  • Determines labor needs based on departmental production requirements and assigns workstation rotations.
  • Works with support groups to ensure efficient labor resource use plant-wide.
  • Schedules vacation, holidays, overtime, and special assignment responsibilities.
  • Provides tools, personal protective equipment, and materials to employees.
  • Identifies and defines operational problems, assists in data collection and analysis, and implements corrective actions.
  • Communicates operational problems to support personnel and assists in problem resolution.
  • Monitors the progress of implemented solutions and ensures employees follow corrective actions.
  • Manages resource allocation and utilization.
  • Works closely with continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs and create efficiencies.
  • Completes work orders and preventative maintenance (PMs) when not working on downtime, ensuring a good completion rate compared to downtime.
  • Ensures work orders and PMs are completed in a prioritized manner.
  • Completes daily production records.
  • Completes crash reports and safety instance reports immediately.
