About The Position

The Manufacturing Supervisor will manage Telecom filter production operations to meet customer and site requirements. This role involves monitoring production lines to ensure proper documentation and procedures are followed, maintaining on-time delivery metrics, and achieving product return level targets. The supervisor will coordinate with lead personnel to ensure staffing, materials, and equipment are in place for daily production needs, and collaborate with other supervisors and leads to optimize resource sharing. A key aspect of this role is to ensure all Multistage lines (Transfer, Test, Tune, and Shipping) work together cohesively to achieve department goals and minimize costs. The supervisor will continuously identify opportunities for process improvements to reduce operating costs or enhance efficiency, with a focus on processes affecting yields. A high standard for quality and a safe work environment is paramount. This role also supports the implementation of new equipment or software, works with the Quality Administrator to create work instructions and training matrices, and manages physical and electronic Work-In-Progress (WIP) and inventory. Collaboration with the planning group to confirm raw material availability and training of existing/new employees to optimize team capability and capacity are also essential functions. The supervisor is responsible for ensuring their team is staffed, motivated, inspired, engaged, and empowered to deliver high and sustainable performance, ensuring the right people are in the right jobs through effective interview and selection techniques. Fostering a learning environment, ensuring teams are trained and developed, and setting meaningful stretch goals with ongoing feedback for development are critical. Effective two-way communication, adherence to EH&S policies, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and ensuring compliance with Coherent and local HR policies are also key responsibilities. The role requires accuracy in all department information systems, records, reports, and metrics, and adherence to company policies regarding safety, environmental, and ergonomic requirements, as well as Technology Control Plan, IP protection, and Export Compliance. The supervisor is responsible for maintaining a quality work environment and serving as a role model for Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Employee Satisfaction, and Business Results, upholding high standards of ethics, professionalism, leadership, competency, and quality.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing company with 2-5 years in a supervisory role
  • Experience developing and sustaining High-Performance Work Groups
  • Experience in thin film coatings preferred
  • Knowledge of automation, machining and other manufacturing processes
  • Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Experience with problem analysis and resolution at the functional level
  • Proven track record of continuous improvement
  • Experienced with ISO Quality and business process management
  • Experience in Manufacturing Execution System (MES) strongly preferred
  • Mechanically and analytically inclined.
  • Proficient computer skills, experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, Email, internet access.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and achieve results through others
  • Able to develop plans, set goals, to evaluate work accomplishments and provide effective feedback.
  • Flexible and adaptable to handle employee and technical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Telecom filter production operations to meet customer / site requirements.
  • Monitor the line to ensure proper documentation is used, and all procedures are being followed.
  • Maintain minimum requirements for On-time to Promise Date and On-time to Customer Request (POD / CRD) consistent with site targets.
  • Achieve product return level consistent with site targets.
  • Reviews daily production requirements and coordinates with lead personnel to assure staffing, material and equipment are in place to meet the daily requirements.
  • Together with supervisors / leads, coordinates resource sharing.
  • Ensure all Multistage lines (Transfer, Test, Tune and Shipping areas) work together cohesively to achieve department goals and lowest possible cost.
  • Continuously monitor lines to identify any areas for process improvements that will reduce operating costs or improve efficiency.
  • Support implementation of new equipment or software (jointly with ACC staff).
  • Works with Quality Administrator to create work instructions for new and existing processes and to create a training matrix for the area.
  • Manage and maintain all physical and electronic WIP / Inventory.
  • Along with the planning group, determine / confirm availability of raw materials.
  • Train existing / new employees to optimize team capability and capacity.
