About The Position

This position is responsible for the day-to-day function of the department and driving the team toward achieving shift and department goals through effective communication skills and fair implementation and administration of company policies. The supervisor's responsibility includes employee safety and welfare, staff development, quality, productivity enhancements, and general housekeeping.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence others in a fast-paced environment with daily challenges.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
  • Basic knowledge of MS PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, and Adobe Reader.
  • Ability to use Tracker, Syteline, and other PlayPower specific programs.
  • Ability to multi-task, follow through on assigned tasks to completion, and work without supervision.
  • Ability to develop working relationships with a variety of people.
  • Ability to possess a strong attention to detail and strong sense of urgency.
  • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance.
  • Must be available and willing to work overtime hours as determined necessary or desirable.
  • Must be available and willing to work such weekends and/or holidays as determined necessary or desirable.
  • Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others.
  • Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the employer’s safety policies and rules.
  • Must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures a safe work environment is maintained, including required safety training and environmental standards.
  • Ensures housekeeping expectations are maintained, including the 5S process.
  • Provides day-to-day leadership to ensure a high-performance, customer-oriented work environment that supports achieving the department and company mission, objectives, values, and goals.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all machines, equipment, and assembly processes.
  • Schedules and assigns work, including maintaining the labor levels required on a day-to-day basis in all areas of the department.
  • Prepares and reviews production reports and actively participates in daily production meetings.
  • Maintains supply levels for all areas of the department.
  • Plans, supervises, and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel, establishing performance requirements and personal development targets.
  • Regularly monitors performance, including attendance record keeping on a timely basis.
  • Provides coaching for performance improvement and development; takes disciplinary action to address performance deficiencies in a fair, consistent manner and on a timely basis.
  • Coaches and empowers employees to achieve department and personal goals.
  • Provides consistent and structured feedback to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and morale.
  • Abides by the standard code of conduct in all interactions with subordinates and managers.
  • Assists in the implementation and maintenance of all manufacturing methods used by the department, including ISO procedures.
  • Facilitates the implementation and maintenance of production and quality processes.
  • Facilitates problem-solving tools, including root cause analysis for internal and external quality concerns in a timely manner.
  • Ensures a successful handoff between shifts on a daily basis, including communication of production expectations, quality concerns, and housekeeping.
  • Directly supervises production employees.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; monitoring and evaluating employee performance in completing employee reviews in accordance with applicable PlayPower programs.
