About The Position

The Manufacturing Supervisor, Machining - 1st Shift is responsible for analyzing work orders to create machining schedules, interpreting specifications, and assigning duties to workers. This role involves planning material flow, inspecting parts, and ensuring customer deadlines are met. The supervisor will also be responsible for improving production methods, equipment performance, and product quality, as well as maintaining production records and developing justifications for capital equipment. The position requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret various instructions. Knowledge of Excel, ADP payroll, and Oracle software is necessary. A combination of education and experience is required, with supervisory experience or a minimum of 1-2 years of CNC experience preferred.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of Excel spreadsheet software; ADP payroll systems and Oracle software.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–12 hours per shift) on a manufacturing floor.
  • Frequent use of hands for handling tools, operating machinery controls, and inspecting parts.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 25–50 pounds regularly; occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for working with precision equipment and components.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach in order to access machinery and materials.
  • Adequate vision (with or without correction) to read blueprints, gauges, and measurement tools.
  • Ability to distinguish colors (for wiring, indicators, or material identification, if applicable).
  • Hearing ability sufficient to monitor equipment and communicate in a noisy industrial environment (with hearing protection as required).
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to noise, vibration, heat, cold, and machine fluids (coolants, oils).
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves, and hearing protection.
  • Must be a US Person (lawful permanent resident or protected person) due to ITAR regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Develops capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times.
