About The Position

This is a full-time, permanent Shift Manager opportunity with a privately held, vertically integrated packaging manufacturer that has been in operation for over 90 years and currently employs more than 4,200 people across 36 facilities nationwide. The company has recently completed a $100 million facility expansion and announced another expansion at this location, indicating a strong long-term outlook and high employee retention. Requirements

  • 5–10 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment — more experience preferred
  • Prior experience managing in a union facility — union contract administration experience strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously on a fast-moving production floor
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Solid, stable work history — long tenure at prior employers is important to this client
  • Full commitment to a rotating 12-hour shift schedule including alternating weekends — this is not flexible
  • Auth U.S. work authorization required — no sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred — strong candidates without a degree considered based on overall experience
  • Paper, web handling, coating, or converting industry experience
  • Engineering or paper science degree background
  • ERP system experience (QAD or similar)
  • Background in pressure-sensitive label, film, or specialty converting operations

Responsibilities

  • Providing daily leadership of 25–30 hourly employees in a unionized coating production environment
  • Managing production schedules, quality standards, and departmental safety compliance on shift
  • Overseeing in-process quality checks, documentation, and corrective action coordination with the Technical Department
  • Partnering with Maintenance on equipment reliability, work order entry, and preventive maintenance participation
  • Managing employee attendance, job assignments, personnel moves, and training requirements
  • Using ERP systems (QAD) for reporting, inventory management, and operational documentation
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, productivity, and cost
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, and Technical teams on process upgrades and new product development
