About The Position

Atkore is seeking a Manufacturing Shift Lead based in Houston, Texas. Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, this person leads an assigned team and ensures duties are completed on schedule and to the required specifications. The ideal candidate has experience in lean manufacturing or a business-system-based company. The role involves overseeing production schedules, product specifications and quality checks, production systems, employee and equipment utilization, and team development. The Shift Lead also promotes workplace safety and continuous improvement. Within the first three months, the new hire will complete the Atkore immersion program and learn how the role supports the company’s strategy, as well as the team’s structure, training materials, and procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Understanding of basic math for quick and accurate counting and calculations.
High attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and organization.
Initiative.
Adaptability to changes in the work environment and ability to manage competing demands, frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events calmly and logically.
Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.

Responsibilities

Ensure product is completed according to the production schedule.
Confirm products meet specifications and required quality tests are performed.
Examine operator paperwork for completeness and accuracy.
Inspect the integrity and performance of production systems.
Recruit, train, and develop crew members.
Optimize utilization of employees and equipment.
Understand computerized systems associated with the technologies used in the facility.
Improve production efficiency by developing a culture of continuous improvement.
Promote a safe working environment and enforce safety rules and procedures.
