Manufacturing RF Product Engineer II

Honeywell Aerospace•Richardson, TX
•Onsite

About The Position

The Manufacturing RF Product Engineer supports MMIC products during post-production and development, including wafer probing, packaging, and final RF testing. The role monitors test yields and product performance through electrical analysis of S-parameters, power, gain, and efficiency; drives yield improvements; and leads root-cause investigations into performance variability and defects. The engineer develops and optimizes test methodologies, correlates wafer-level and packaged results, and ensures production-ready test documentation. For product development, the position involves test fixture and PCB design, laboratory RF characterization, and data analysis to define product specifications and improve device models and design kits. The engineer collaborates with design, process, and test teams to resolve issues, validate models through measurement and back-fitting, and support high-frequency package design. The role also supports failure analysis using SEM, FIB, and electrical methods; prototype assembly and inspection; and preparation of technical reports for successful product release and delivery. The position is based in Richardson, Texas, follows a 9/80 work schedule, and reports directly to the leadership team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
  • At least 2 years of RF circuit design experience, including RF/analog circuits, FET transistor theory, and microwave fundamentals.
  • Coursework related to RF design or electromagnetics (RF theory).
  • Knowledge of active device theory fundamentals, including FETs and diodes.
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined by U.S. export control laws and regulations: a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or person with protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a related engineering curriculum.
  • Experience in RF design, simulation, and modeling using tools such as AWR or ADS.
  • Hands-on RF measurement expertise, including small-signal S-parameter measurement and use of vector network analyzers (VNA).
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Ansys SolidWorks, or similar.
  • Experience in DoD environments, including familiarity with military qualification and testing standards.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication, foundry collaboration (PDKs and process corners), yield analysis, and high-volume manufacturing considerations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and manage tasks independently.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design teams to ensure MMIC designs meet design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-testability (DFT) requirements, supporting modeling, simulation, and design improvements.
  • Develop and execute wafer-level and packaged test plans, including RF/microwave characterization of S-parameters, power, and noise figure, as well as acceptance testing.
  • Design, validate, and optimize test fixtures, probe cards, IC packages, and evaluation PCBs for pre-production and characterization.
  • Perform laboratory device testing and data analysis to define specifications, identify performance gaps, and assess yield risks.
  • Develop and use JMP scripts for statistical analysis.
  • Support process development, qualification, and fabrication optimization for MMIC technologies including GaAs, GaN, and InP prior to volume production.
  • Validate models through measurement-to-simulation correlation and refine device model kits.
  • Generate test procedures, qualification plans, datasheets, and technical reports; support customer applications and engineering documentation.
  • Assist with prototype builds, reliability testing, failure analysis, and production activities including assembly, inspection, troubleshooting, and product delivery.
  • Monitor test yields and product performance, drive yield improvements, and lead root-cause investigations into performance variability and defects.

Benefits

  • Employer-subsidized medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage.
  • 401(k) match.
  • Flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts.
