The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices. The Manufacturing Quality Engineer develops, deploys, qualifies, and improves manufacturing quality systems, process controls, and operational disciplines across Advanced Optics. Working closely with division functions and site departments, this role applies PPAP, PCPD, measurement system analysis, capability evaluation, risk management, and structured problem-solving to translate customer, product, and process requirements into capable, controlled, and sustainable manufacturing processes. The role spans new product introductions, pilot-line deployments, technology transfers, major process changes, capacity expansions, and ongoing process improvements — ensuring quality is built into the process, variation is reduced at the source, and manufacturing confidence is earned through demonstrated readiness and control.
